CBIC and Subordinate Offices Launch Special Campaign 5.0 for Cleanliness and Efficiency

The Special Campaign 5.0 is set to launch from October 2 to October 31, 2025, with the goal of promoting cleanliness and reducing pending tasks within government offices. This initiative will focus on the disposal of electronic waste, effective space management, and improved record-keeping. The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) will play a key role in this campaign, building on the successes of the previous year’s efforts.

Building on Previous Successes

Last year’s Special Campaign for Disposal of Pending Matters 4.0, which ran from October 2 to October 31, 2024, saw significant achievements across CBIC offices nationwide. The campaign aimed to instill a culture of cleanliness, or *swachhata*, while addressing backlogs in record management and file disposal. The results were impressive, with thousands of physical and electronic files reviewed and closed, contributing to a more organized workspace.

During the 4.0 campaign, a total of 55,618 physical files were assessed, leading to the removal of 32,615 files. In addition, 22,645 electronic files were reviewed, resulting in 17,549 closures. The campaign also included 1,094 cleanliness events held in office premises and public areas, showcasing a strong commitment to community engagement and environmental responsibility.

Significant Initiatives and Outcomes

The previous campaign also focused on space management, achieving the disposal of contraband goods valued at โ‚น465.5 crore. This effort not only improved office organization but also enhanced employee welfare through the creation of facilities such as crรจches and canteens. Additionally, unused areas were transformed into parking spaces for staff, further optimizing the use of available resources.

A notable aspect of the campaign was the revenue generated through the disposal of scrap, including electronic waste. The total revenue amounted to โ‚น12,67,636, which facilitated the freeing up of 29,819 square feet of office space. These efforts reflect a proactive approach to managing resources and enhancing the work environment for employees.

Preparations for Special Campaign 5.0

As the Special Campaign 5.0 approaches, extensive preparations are underway to ensure its success. Nodal officers have been appointed across all zones and directorates within CBIC to oversee the campaign’s implementation. These officers are responsible for guiding field formations, ensuring adherence to timelines, and fostering a culture of innovation through brainstorming sessions.

The campaign aims to institutionalize cleanliness and efficiency within government offices, with a strong emphasis on e-waste disposal, record management, and overall office cleanliness. The groundwork laid during the preparatory phase is expected to enhance the outcomes of the upcoming campaign, setting a robust foundation for future initiatives.

Commitment to a Cleaner Future

The Special Campaign 5.0 represents a continued commitment to fostering a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable environment. The achievements from the previous campaign have been widely publicized on social media, highlighting best practices and encouraging community involvement. As the campaign date approaches, the focus remains on ensuring that all participants are well-prepared and motivated to contribute to the overarching goals of cleanliness and efficiency in government operations.
