Apple Unveils iPhone 17, iPhone Air, AirPods Pro 3, and More at Hardware Event

Apple unveiled its latest hardware offerings today, showcasing the much-anticipated iPhone 17 lineup alongside updates for the Apple Watch and AirPods. The new iPhone models feature larger screens and enhanced camera systems, with the introduction of the ultra-slim iPhone Air, which replaces the Plus model. Additionally, reports suggest that more hardware announcements could be on the horizon, including new iPad Pro models and updated MacBooks, expected in the next couple of years.

iPhone 17, 17 Pro, and 17 Pro Max

The iPhone 17 has undergone a significant redesign, aligning its aesthetics more closely with the Pro models. It boasts a larger 6.3-inch display, an increase of 0.2 inches from its predecessor, and features a 120 Hz refresh rate, a notable upgrade from the previous 60 Hz. The device is equipped with a 48-megapixel ultrawide camera, enhancing its photography capabilities. Customers can choose from a variety of new colors, including lavender, mist blue, black, white, and sage.

The Pro models have also received substantial upgrades, particularly in their rear camera arrangement, which now features a rectangular bar extending across the back of the device. The flash, light sensor, and microphone are strategically placed on the right side, while the Apple logo is centered for a more polished look. Notably, the iPhone 17 Pro has switched from a titanium band to an aluminum frame around the screen. The pricing for the iPhone 17 starts at $799 for the base model with 256GB of storage, while the Pro and Pro Max models are priced at $1,099 and $1,199, respectively.

iPhone Air

A highlight of the event was the introduction of the iPhone Air, Apple’s thinnest phone to date, which replaces the iPhone Plus. This new device measures just 5.6 mm in thickness, making it approximately 0.08 inches slimmer than existing models. It features a 6.6-inch screen and a 120 Hz ProMotion display, enhancing the user experience. The iPhone Air is designed exclusively for eSIM, contributing to its sleek profile.

This launch appears to be a strategic move by Apple to keep pace with the trend of slimmer smartphones, following competitors like Samsung and Huawei. The iPhone Air could potentially surpass the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge, which has a thickness of 5.8 mm. Additionally, this model may pave the way for Apple’s anticipated foldable phone, rumored to debut in September 2026. The iPhone Air is priced at $999 and will be available in several colors, including black, white, sky blue, and light gold.

Apple Watch Series 11, Ultra 3, and SE 3

After a two-year hiatus, Apple has introduced the Apple Watch Ultra 3, which boasts faster charging capabilities, 5G support, and satellite connectivity. The watch features a larger display, enhancing usability. One of the most notable upgrades across both the Ultra 3 and Series 11 is the addition of blood pressure-monitoring technology, which alerts users to abnormal blood pressure levels.

The third-generation Apple Watch SE has received minor updates, including an always-on display powered by a faster S10 chip. The pricing for the new watches starts at $249 for the Apple Watch SE 3, $399 for the Series 11, and $799 for the Ultra 3, making them accessible options for various users.

AirPods Pro 3

The AirPods Pro 3 have finally arrived, following the release of the AirPods Pro 2 in 2022. Priced at $249, these new earbuds feature a more compact design, improved audio quality, and an innovative heart-rate-sensing capability. Additionally, they come equipped with live translation technology, powered by Apple Intelligence, enabling users to translate foreign languages in real time. This upgrade positions the AirPods Pro 3 as a versatile tool for communication and entertainment.
