In response to feedback from previous cohorts, Breakthrough Energy has revamped its curriculum to better prepare fellows for the realities of the market. Using a framework known as techno-economic analysis, fellows collaborate with experienced business mentors to assess the viability of their ideas and identify potential product-market fit. Grosh noted that many startups initially enter the program with one vision but often pivot to more viable solutions, enhancing their chances of securing venture funding. This approach has proven successful, with nearly all teams from previous cohorts raising follow-on funding, and one startup, Holocene, achieving a successful exit.

Grosh highlighted that the majority of teams from earlier cohorts have successfully secured additional funding, indicating a strong validation of their business models.
