NeGD Integrates Nearly 2,000 e-Government Services on DigiLocker and e-District Platforms Across India

The National e-Governance Division (NeGD), part of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, has successfully integrated e-Government services across India through the DigiLocker and e-District platforms. This initiative allows citizens from all 36 States and Union Territories to access nearly 2,000 digital services conveniently and efficiently. The integration aims to enhance transparency and support the Digital India vision, promoting a paperless governance model.
Expansion of Digital Services
The recent integration of e-Government services marks a significant advancement in India’s digital infrastructure. Citizens can now access a diverse range of services, including certificates, welfare schemes, and utility payments, from the comfort of their homes. This initiative not only streamlines service delivery but also fosters a more efficient and transparent governance framework. The move aligns with the broader goals of the Digital India program, which seeks to empower citizens through technology and reduce reliance on paper-based processes.
DigiLocker has emerged as a vital component of this digital transformation, addressing challenges related to data security, interoperability, and coordination among multiple stakeholders. Its robust framework ensures that citizens can access reliable digital services, thereby enhancing inclusivity and trust in government initiatives.
Service Availability Across States and Union Territories
The integration has resulted in varying levels of service availability across different regions. Maharashtra leads the way with 254 services, followed by Delhi with 123, and Karnataka with 113. Other states like Assam, Uttar Pradesh, and Kerala also offer a significant number of services, contributing to a total of 1,938 services available nationwide. This extensive reach ensures that citizens from diverse backgrounds can benefit from digital governance, making essential services more accessible than ever.
The distribution of services reflects the commitment of state governments to embrace digital solutions and improve the quality of life for their residents. As more services become available online, the potential for increased citizen engagement and satisfaction grows, paving the way for a more connected and informed society.
Future Plans and Innovations
Looking ahead, NeGD plans to expand its portfolio of e-Government services by incorporating emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence. This forward-thinking approach aims to enhance service delivery and ensure that citizens receive timely and relevant information. To support this initiative, structured training programs and workshops will be organized at the state level to raise awareness about the available digital services.
Continued innovation will be crucial in achieving greater inclusivity and improving the last-mile delivery of services. By leveraging technology, the government aims to empower citizens and transform governance, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi‘s vision of a digitally enabled and inclusive India.
