Agriculture Ministry to Present Organic Products at Biofach India 2025

The Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmerโs Welfare is set to participate in Biofach India 2025, one of the largest organic trade fairs in the country. Scheduled from August 30 to September 1, 2025, at the India Expo Centre and Mart in Greater Noida, this event will showcase the diverse offerings of over 27 Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) from the North Eastern Region. The fair aims to connect organic producers, buyers, and policymakers, fostering discussions on the opportunities and challenges within the organic sector.
Showcasing North Eastern Organic Products
At Biofach India 2025, the participating FPOs will present a wide array of organic products, including cardamom, kiwi, pineapple, ginger, turmeric, king chilli, rice, and millets. They will also feature fresh and processed fruits, including Geographical Indication (GI) products. This platform will allow FPOs to engage directly with buyers, traders, and experts from both India and abroad, highlighting the strength and diversity of organic products from the North Eastern states. The event is expected to enhance the visibility of these products in national and global markets.
Support for Organic Farming
The participation of these FPOs is backed by the Mission Organic Value Chain Development for North Eastern Region (MOVCDNER), a flagship initiative launched in 2015-16. This program aims to promote organic farming across the North Eastern states by providing comprehensive support to farmers involved in organic cultivation. The initiative focuses on various aspects, including production, processing, certification, and marketing, while emphasizing the formation of organic clusters. It particularly prioritizes small and marginal farmers, aiming to create sustainable supply chains that connect them directly to markets.
Enhancing Farmer Income and Market Access
MOVCDNER also aims to improve income opportunities for farmers by ensuring they have access to the right markets and fair prices for their produce. By linking FPOs with potential buyers and strengthening value chains, the initiative enables farmers to secure better returns on their investments. This approach not only helps farmers build long-term resilience but also contributes to the overall sustainability of the agricultural sector in the region.
Promoting Indiaโs Organic Ecosystem
The involvement of FPOs in Biofach India 2025 represents a significant advancement in promoting North Eastern organic products on a larger scale. This initiative underscores the Ministry’s commitment to enhancing Indiaโs organic ecosystem while advancing the vision of sustainable, inclusive, and climate-resilient agriculture. By fostering partnerships and increasing visibility for organic products, the event aims to strengthen the agricultural landscape of the North Eastern region and support its farmers in achieving greater success in both national and international markets.
