Indian Youth Require Appropriate Guidance, Technical Support, and Policy-Making

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla emphasized the importance of guiding Indian youth towards a developed India by 2047 during his address at the “JITEM Youth Conclave 2025” in Gurugram. He highlighted the need for technical support and effective policy-making to empower the younger generation. Birla praised the Jain community’s contributions to societal development and stressed that uplifting every individual is a collective responsibility.

Empowering Youth for a Developed India

During his speech, Om Birla articulated the critical role of youth in shaping India’s future. He noted that the youth of India are not only numerous but also filled with determination and a desire for change. Birla pointed out that they are increasingly becoming job creators rather than mere job seekers. Initiatives like Start-up India, Skill India, Make in India, and the Green Energy Mission have harnessed their energy positively. He called for the right guidance and technical support to ensure that young people can contribute effectively to the nationโ€™s growth and development.

Birla’s remarks came during the “JITEM Youth Conclave 2025,” organized by the Jain International Trade Organisation (JITO). He underscored that the journey towards a developed Bharat by 2047 requires a concerted effort from all sectors of society, including social organizations, to provide the necessary support for youth development.

The Role of Social Organizations

Shri Birla highlighted the significant role of social organizations in fostering holistic development within society. He described JITO not merely as a trade organization but as a platform that integrates trade, innovation, and the teachings of Jain philosophy. According to him, JITO exemplifies how community organizations can contribute to national development through economic, educational, and service-oriented initiatives.

He praised the Jain community for its ethical contributions across various sectors, including trade, industry, and social services. Birla noted that the community’s values of moral integrity, social cooperation, and dedication have established a strong presence in India and abroad. He emphasized that the principles of the Jain community, such as global peace and goodwill, are essential for societal progress.

Strengthening Indian Democracy

In his address, Birla also reflected on the strength of Indian democracy, asserting that it is deeply rooted in the nationโ€™s culture and collective ethos. He recalled that many skeptics doubted the viability of democracy in a diverse nation like India at the time of independence. However, he pointed out that India has consistently demonstrated its capability to overcome challenges through discussion and collective effort.

Birla’s remarks serve as a reminder of the resilience and adaptability of Indian democracy, which has thrived despite various challenges. He underscored the importance of unity and cooperation in addressing societal issues, reinforcing the idea that democracy is not just a political system but a way of life that fosters collective welfare.
