Finn Allen Dominates in MLC 2025, Emerges as Top Performer

In a thrilling encounter at Major League Cricket 2025, the San Francisco Unicorns continued their winning streak, defeating the Texas Super Kings by eight wickets. Despite a stellar century from Faf du Plessis, who scored 100 runs off just 51 balls, the Unicorns chased down the target of 199 with 23 balls to spare. This victory marks the Unicorns’ fourth consecutive win, keeping them firmly at the top of the league standings.

Faf du Plessis Shines for Texas Super Kings

Faf du Plessis showcased his batting prowess as he led the Super Kings’ innings after being asked to bat first. His impressive knock of 100 runs included six fours and seven sixes, achieving a remarkable strike rate of 200. This innings was a much-needed boost for du Plessis, as it marked his first fifty-plus score since scoring 62 against Kolkata Knight Riders on April 29 during IPL 2025. Du Plessis formed two crucial partnerships: a 97-run partnership with Devon Conway, who contributed 23 runs off 23 balls, followed by a 69-run stand with Saiteja Mukkamalla, who added 38 runs to the total.

However, the Super Kings’ innings faltered as they lost three quick wickets in a devastating spell. Both Mukkamalla and du Plessis fell to Xavier Bartlett, while Marcus Stoinis also departed shortly after. This collapse occurred within just eight balls, preventing the Super Kings from reaching the 200-run mark, which could have provided a more formidable target.

Unicornsโ€™ Dominant Chase

In response, the San Francisco Unicorns came out aggressively, with openers Matthew Short and Finn Allen leading the charge. Short set the tone early, scoring 33 runs off 16 balls, while Allen initially struggled but quickly found his rhythm. The Unicorns took full advantage of the powerplay, racing to 83 runs without losing a wicket. By the end of the powerplay, Allen had scored 34 off 16 balls, and Short had made 46 runs off just 21 deliveries.

The partnership between Short and Allen was a defining moment in the match, as they built a solid opening stand of 117 runs. Short’s innings came to an end when he was dismissed for 61 runs off 29 balls in the ninth over. Meanwhile, Allen continued his onslaught, scoring a blistering 78 runs from 35 balls before being dismissed by Adam Milne. With only 30 runs needed from the last 7.4 overs, Jake Fraser-McGurk entered the fray and quickly sealed the victory with a brisk 37 runs off 25 balls, further solidifying the Unicorns’ top position in the MLC 2025 standings.

MLC 2025 Standings and Player Performances

The San Francisco Unicorns now sit comfortably at the top of the MLC 2025 table with a perfect record of four wins from four matches. This latest victory not only highlights their consistent performance but also underscores the contributions of their key players. Finn Allen has been a standout performer, currently leading the run charts with a total of 675 runs in the tournament. Devon Conway follows closely behind with 649 runs, while Faf du Plessis stands at 599 runs. Other notable players include Nicholas Pooran with 586 runs and Quinton de Kock with 519 runs.

The Unicorns’ success can be attributed to their strong batting lineup and effective bowling strategies, which have allowed them to dominate their opponents consistently. As the tournament progresses, fans eagerly anticipate how these teams will evolve and continue to compete for the championship title.
