This year, 12 exceptional apps and games have been honored, with CapWords taking the top spot in the Delight and Fun category and Speechify recognized as the best Inclusivity app.

Apple Design Awards 2025 Winners

The Design Awards 2025 showcased a diverse array of winners across multiple categories. In the Delight and Fun category, CapWords, developed by HappyPlan Tech from China, emerged victorious. This innovative language learning app allows users to snap pictures of everyday objects, transforming them into interactive sticker-based flashcards. The app leverages Apple’s technology to create memorable learning experiences. In the gaming sector, Balatro, created by Playstack Limited, also won in this category. This deck-building game combines elements of Solitaire and Poker, challenging players to defeat Boss Blinds by crafting strong poker hands.

In the Inclusivity category, Speechify, a text-to-speech application from a U.S.-based company, was awarded for its commitment to accessibility. The app converts various text formats, including websites and PDFs, into audio, making information more accessible to users with different backgrounds and abilities. It features Dynamic Type, VoiceOver, and supports over 50 languages. The game Art of Fauna also received recognition in this category, offering a puzzle experience that promotes inclusivity through its accessibility features, such as color themes and VoiceOver support.

Innovation and Interaction

The Innovation category highlighted Play, an app development tool from Rabbit 3 Times, which won for its ability to assist designers in creating interactive applications using native SwiftUI frameworks. This tool allows developers to seamlessly transition their projects to Xcode for finalization. In the gaming segment, PBJ โ€” The Musical was recognized for its unique storytelling approach, presenting a whimsical narrative about the origins of peanut butter and jelly through stop-motion animation and music.

The Interaction category saw the Taobao app for the Apple Vision Pro awarded for its innovative 3D modeling capabilities, allowing users to compare products in a virtual space. In the gaming realm, Dredge, a horror role-playing adventure from New Zealand’s Black Salt Games, captivated audiences with its narrative centered around a fisherman encountering Lovecraftian creatures in an open-world setting.

Social Impact and Visuals

Apple’s Social Impact category honored Watch Duty: Wildfire Maps, an app designed to provide real-time wildfire mapping and alerts. This application played a crucial role in disseminating information during wildfires in San Diego County earlier this year, showcasing the power of technology in addressing urgent community needs. Neva, a puzzle-platform game, also received accolades in this category, inviting players to guide a girl and her pet wolf through a decaying world while navigating seasonal changes.

In the Visuals and Graphics category, Feather: Draw in 3D, developed by South Korean company Sketchsoft, was recognized for its ability to transform 2D designs into 3D creations, exclusively for iPad users. The app utilizes touch and Apple Pencil interactions to enhance the creative process. Meanwhile, Infinity Nikki, a free-to-play action-adventure game, triumphed in the gaming segment, allowing players to explore an open world while uncovering hidden mysteries and engaging in character customization.
