Sony Announces Complete Closure of PlayStation Stars Loyalty Program
Sony has announced the impending closure of its PlayStation Stars loyalty program, which has been rewarding members for engaging with games and completing various activities on its platform. The program will cease accepting new members immediately and is set to wind down completely by November 2, 2026. Current members can continue to earn digital collectibles and loyalty points until July 23, 2025, after which all benefits will be discontinued.

Launched in 2022, the PlayStation Stars program aimed to enhance user engagement by offering digital collectibles to players. Initially available in select regions, the program allowed members to earn rewards for completing specific tasks, such as playing games or achieving trophies. In a recent blog post, Sony acknowledged the insights gained from the program, stating, “Since launching the program, we’ve learned a lot from evaluating the types of activities our players respond best to.” The company emphasized its commitment to evolving alongside player preferences and industry trends. As the current version of PlayStation Stars comes to a close, Sony plans to analyze the data collected and explore new ways to enhance its loyalty initiatives in the future.
When is PlayStation Stars Ending?
While the PlayStation Stars program is no longer accepting new members, existing participants can still earn rewards until July 23, 2025. After this date, all new campaigns and benefits associated with the program will be halted. Members can redeem their accumulated points until the program’s final closure on November 2, 2026. However, Sony has cautioned that if a member decides to cancel their membership, they will forfeit all earned points and will not be able to rejoin the program. Despite this, any digital collectibles earned will remain accessible to the member. Sony expressed gratitude to its players for their support since the program’s inception, stating, “As we explore new ways to evolve our loyalty program efforts for the future, we’ll continue to celebrate all of our players through the various community activities we have planned.”

The PlayStation Stars program was designed to be user-friendly, requiring only an active PlayStation Network (PSN) account for free membership. Members were rewarded for completing various campaigns and activities, which could be tracked through the PlayStation App available on iOS and Android devices. The rewards included digital collectibles and loyalty points, which could be redeemed for items in a catalog featuring PSN wallet funds, digital collectibles, and select products from the PlayStation Store.
