Motorola Edge 60s Official Launch Date Announced for May 8
Motorola is set to launch its latest smartphone, the Edge 60s, in China on May 8. This new device will be unveiled alongside the Motorola Edge 60 lineup and the Razr 60 foldable series, which were recently introduced in select global markets. The company has shared details about the design, color options, and specifications of the Edge 60s, indicating that it will closely resemble its predecessors in the Edge 60 series.
Launch Date and Design Features
The Motorola Edge 60s is scheduled for release on May 8, as confirmed by a post on Weibo. This smartphone boasts an IP68 and IP69 rating, ensuring robust dust and water resistance. Motorola has designed the Edge 60s to incorporate artificial intelligence (AI) features, similar to its other models.
The design of the Edge 60s mirrors that of the existing Edge 60 and Edge 60 Pro models. It features a slightly raised rectangular camera module on the back panel, which houses the camera system. The device sports a curved display with slim, uniform bezels and a centrally aligned hole-punch cutout for the front camera. On the right edge, users will find the volume rocker and power button, while the bottom edge includes the SIM card slot, a USB Type-C port, and speaker grilles.
Specifications and Storage Options
Motorola has revealed that the Edge 60s will be available in two RAM and storage configurations: 12GB of RAM with either 256GB or 512GB of internal storage. The smartphone will come in three color options: Glacier Mint, Misty Iris, and Polar Rose, as translated from Chinese.
In terms of display, the Edge 60s is expected to feature a 6.7-inch 1.5K pOLED curved-edge screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, providing a smooth visual experience. The camera setup will include a 50-megapixel primary camera with optical image stabilization (OIS) and a 13-megapixel ultrawide camera. For selfies, the device is anticipated to have a 32-megapixel front-facing camera.
Performance and Battery Life
Under the hood, the Motorola Edge 60s is likely to be powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 7400 SoC, ensuring efficient performance. The smartphone will be equipped with a substantial 5,500mAh battery, supporting both 68W wired and 15W wireless charging options.
The device’s dimensions are expected to be 8.2mm in thickness, with a weight of approximately 190 grams. Alongside the Edge 60s, Motorola will also introduce the standard Edge and Edge 60 Pro variants, as well as the Razr 60 and Razr 60 Ultra foldable smartphones on the same launch date.
