Motorola Enhances Moto AI with New Features in Collaboration with Google
Motorola has unveiled significant enhancements to its in-house artificial intelligence chatbot, Moto AI, during an announcement on Thursday. The Lenovo-owned company is introducing four new featuresโNext Move, Playlist Studio, Image Studio, and Look and Talkโaimed at improving user experience. Additionally, Motorola is collaborating with major tech giants like Google, Meta, Microsoft, and Perplexity to integrate their technologies into Moto AI, offering eligible users a complimentary three-month trial of Perplexity Pro and Google One AI Premium subscriptions.
Moto AI Chatbot Remains in Beta Testing
Motorola is expanding the capabilities of Moto AI, which was launched as an open beta program in December 2024 for select devices. The chatbot is still in its beta phase and is currently accessible on the latest Razr and Edge devices. According to the company, thousands of users have participated in testing Moto AI’s existing features, which include Catch Me Up, Pay Attention, and Remember This. Feedback from users indicated a desire for more guidance on how to effectively utilize the features in various situations. In response, Motorola is refining the existing functionalities while introducing new experiences to enhance usability.
One of the standout new features, Next Move, will provide personalized recommendations based on the content displayed on users’ screens. This feature aims to suggest actionable next steps, helping users explore the capabilities of AI and adapt to its functionalities. Another addition, Playlist Studio, allows users to create customized playlists based on prompts or on-screen content. For example, users can request a playlist titled โPizza night Y2K jams,โ and Moto AI will curate a selection of songs tailored to that theme. Additionally, the Image Studio feature will enable users to generate images, avatars, stickers, and wallpapers, which can be shared through messaging apps and social media platforms.
Motorola Announces Partnerships With AI Players
In a strategic move, Motorola is partnering with Google to integrate advanced AI features such as Gemini and Gemini Live into its devices. Users of the Razr series smartphones will have the ability to access the chatbot from the external display. As part of this collaboration, Motorola is offering a three-month trial of the Google One AI Premium plan, which includes access to Gemini Advanced, Gemini in Workspace platforms, and 2TB of cloud storage. This complimentary subscription will be available to customers who purchase eligible devices, including the Motorola Razr 60 series, Razr 50 series, Razr 40, Edge 60 series, and Edge 50 series.
Furthermore, Motorola is collaborating with Meta to make its Smart Connect app available on the Meta Horizon Store. This integration will allow Meta Quest users to check messages and access their favorite apps directly from the mixed reality headset. Additionally, Microsoftโs Copilot will be integrated with the Motorola Razr Ultra and the Edge 60 Pro, enabling users to interact with the Copilot chatbot directly through Moto AI. Lastly, the integration of Perplexity’s AI search engine within Moto AI will enhance web search capabilities, allowing users to receive comprehensive responses to their queries.
All Motorola devices launched after March 3 will also include a three-month trial of the Perplexity Pro subscription, which will be available exclusively to new subscribers. This initiative underscores Motorola’s commitment to enhancing user experience through advanced AI technologies and strategic partnerships.
