Scene 1: Suspicions and Silent Worries
Renuka stands near the doorway, watching Sachin and Sayali return from Sayali’s mother-in-law’s home much earlier than expected. She arches an eyebrow and thinks, “Something must have happened. Sachin may have caused trouble.” Sayali, on the other hand, worries about how she might explain this sudden return. She does not want anyone to question her family’s honor. She whispers to Sachin, “If anyone asks, let’s say we came back because I felt unwell.” Sachin nods, but he looks uneasy, as though he also dislikes hiding the truth. Soon after, Sachin’s grandmother notices a detail that raises more questions. She points at his shirt and says, “Why aren’t you wearing that shirt Shobha gave you? This is a different one.” Sayali quickly jumps in with an excuse, saying, “Sachin spilled something on it, so he changed.” Renuka listens from the side, frowning. She does not seem convinced. She quietly mutters, “This story doesn’t add up.”
Meanwhile, Akash and Riya chat in the living room, discussing a surprise celebration for Sachin and Sayali’s first wedding anniversary. Akash says, “We should do something grand to make them smile.” Riya nods, excited at the thought. However, when Akash mentions these plans to Sachin, Sachin shows no enthusiasm. He replies softly, “I have to leave with the car right now. We can talk later.” His father hears this and reminds him, “Return home early. There is something important happening tonight.” Sachin’s lack of energy about the upcoming anniversary worries both Akash and Riya. Roshni says, “Sayali, you and Sachin came back so soon from your mother-in-law’s house. Was there some problem?” Sayali stiffens, feeling her pulse quicken. She does not like Roshni’s questions. “Why do you want to know?” she snaps. “It’s our personal matter. It’s nothing.” Roshni frowns, reminding Sayali, “You once questioned me about my life when I had a problem. You got angry when I avoided answers. Don’t I deserve to ask, too?” Sayali turns away, irritated. She picks up the teapot and keeps her voice low. “I’m not interested in your personal matters, so please stay out of mine.” Roshni sighs, stepping aside to avoid an argument. She mumbles, “Maybe it’s best we keep our distance.”
Sayali leaves the kitchen and goes to her room, where Sachin is changing. She notices he is still wearing the shirt he bought for himself. She frowns and says sharply, “Why are you still wearing that shirt? I told you to get rid of it.” Sachin stops mid-button, confused. “What’s wrong with it? It’s just a shirt,” he replies. Sayali’s voice grows louder, filled with the stress of the day. “I don’t like it. Change into something else.” Their raised voices catch Riya’s attention. She and Ajji (grandmother) come to the door, listening to the argument. Surprised that they are fighting on their anniversary day, Ajji makes a bold move. She quietly locks the door from outside and says, “You two must talk this out. I won’t let you out until you fix your problem.” Sachin and Sayali realize the door is locked. At first, they pound on it, asking Ajji to open it. But Ajji simply calls back, “Not until you two calm down and solve your fight.” With no choice, Sachin and Sayali sit on the bed, forced to spend time together in the same room. Slowly, their anger subsides. Sayali explains how worried she is about what happened at her mother-in-law’s place, and Sachin admits he felt pressured and did not handle it well. They talk for a long time, sharing their concerns. Eventually, they smile at each other, feeling a small wave of relief. They promise to handle problems as a team instead of fighting. After a while, Ajji unlocks the door, peeking in to check on them. She sees the two sitting side by side, talking calmly. Satisfied, she nods and steps away. Sachin and Sayali walk out, relieved that their argument is over.
Scene 3: Anniversary Decor and Renewed Bonds
The moment Sachin and Sayali step back into the main hall, they see decorations everywhere. Akash, Riya, Renuka, and others are busy hanging ribbons and setting up lights. Sayali blinks in surprise, not quite sure what is happening. Riya rushes over with a big smile. “Happy first wedding anniversary!” she exclaims. Akash adds, “We wanted to do something special for you two, so we planned this surprise.” Sachin and Sayali look around, noticing that balloons, streamers, and fancy drapes are all in place to mark their special day. Renuka, however, seems a bit flustered because she has been asked to do many chores. She mutters under her breath, “I’ve been carrying boxes around for hours. I hope this party is worth it.”
While the preparations continue, Sachin’s father hands him a package and says, “Put these new clothes on.” Sayali also receives a small box containing a pretty outfit. Riya quickly steps forward. “I’ll help you get ready, Sayali. Let me do your hair and makeup,” she offers. Sayali agrees, feeling a mix of excitement and nerves. In the back of her mind, she still remembers the argument they had earlier, but seeing everyone’s effort warms her heart. Soon, Sachin and Sayali are dressed in their finest. Sachin glances in the mirror, adjusting his outfit. He notices how happy Sayali looks in her new dress. As he leaves the room, he runs into his elder brother, Tejas. With a grateful smile, Sachin says, “Thank you for everything you did on my wedding day. If you hadn’t stepped aside, I wouldn’t have had the chance to marry Sayali. She’s truly perfect for me.” Tejas nods, looking calm and supportive.
Meanwhile, Sayali comes out, glowing from her makeover. She sees Sachin and feels her heart flutter. Sachin also pauses, momentarily captivated by her. Riya laughs, saying, “You both look wonderful! Come join us in the living room.” With the decorations in place and music softly playing, the couple’s anniversary celebration begins. The family gathers around, sharing good wishes. Sachin and Sayali exchange grateful looks, remembering their dispute from earlier in the day and realizing how precious their bond is. Their first anniversary, once clouded by worry, has now turned into a night of unity and joy.
