UIDAI Partners with Sarvam AI for Enhanced Aadhaar Services

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has announced a strategic partnership with Bengaluru-based Sarvam AI, a full-stack Generative AI company, to improve the user experience for Aadhaar services. This collaboration, effective from March 18, aims to leverage AI technology for voice-based interactions and real-time fraud alerts, enhancing security and accessibility for Aadhaar number holders across India.

AI-Powered Voice Interactions for User Feedback

Under the new agreement, Sarvam AI will implement an AI solution that facilitates voice-based interactions tailored to residents’ needs. This innovative approach will enable UIDAI to gather near real-time feedback from Aadhaar number holders regarding their enrollment and update processes. Additionally, it will help identify any instances of overcharging residents, ensuring a more transparent and user-friendly experience. The deployment of this AI technology marks a significant step towards making Aadhaar services more responsive and efficient, aligning with UIDAI’s commitment to user-centric innovation.

Enhanced Security with Real-Time Fraud Alerts

The partnership also focuses on bolstering security measures for Aadhaar number holders. The AI system will provide real-time fraud alerts, notifying users of any suspicious activities detected during authentication requests. This proactive approach aims to safeguard users’ personal information and enhance trust in the Aadhaar system. By integrating advanced AI capabilities, UIDAI is taking significant strides to ensure that the Aadhaar framework remains secure and reliable for all users.

Multilingual Support for Broader Accessibility

Recognizing India’s linguistic diversity, the AI solution will support voice interactions and fraud detection in ten languages, including Hindi, English, Telugu, Tamil, Marathi, Gujarati, Kannada, Odia, Punjabi, and Malayalam. This multilingual capability is designed to make Aadhaar services more accessible to a wider audience, ensuring that language barriers do not hinder users from availing themselves of essential services. UIDAI plans to expand the language options further in the coming months, reflecting its commitment to inclusivity and user engagement.

Commitment to Innovation and Data Security

UIDAI has consistently prioritized the needs of Aadhaar number holders, continuously upgrading its technology to enhance user experience. The recent Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Sarvam AI is a testament to this commitment. The AI solution will be hosted on-premise within UIDAI’s secure infrastructure, ensuring that no data leaves the organization’s environment, thus adhering to strict data sovereignty and security protocols. Initially valid for one year, the agreement may be extended for an additional year, allowing for ongoing improvements and innovations in Aadhaar services.
