India Launches WAVES 2025 to Boost Global Media Collaboration

In a significant move to foster international cooperation in the Media and Entertainment (M&E) sector, the Government of India hosted a high-profile session on WAVES 2025 at Sushma Swaraj Bhawan in New Delhi. Organized by the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, this event aimed to engage global stakeholders ahead of the World Audio Visual & Entertainment Summit (WAVES) 2025, scheduled for May 1-4, 2025, in Mumbai. The session gathered around 100 ambassadors and high commissioners, highlighting India’s commitment to enhancing its role in the global media landscape.

The event featured prominent figures, including Union Minister for External Affairs Dr. S. Jaishankar, Union Minister for Information & Broadcasting Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, and Chief Minister of Maharashtra Shri Devendra Fadnavis. The session also included the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting and the Government of Maharashtra, aimed at strengthening collaboration in media, entertainment, and digital outreach.

Sanjay Jaju, Secretary of the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, outlined the summit’s structure, which includes multiple tracks aimed at creating a meaningful impact. The Global Media Dialogue will feature discussions among ministers and policymakers, while the Thought Leaders Track will host knowledge-sharing sessions with industry experts. The WAVES Exhibition will showcase innovations in storytelling and immersive experiences, while the Bharat Pavilion will highlight India’s media heritage.
