Goyal Urges Creative Sector to Elevate India’s Global Presence

Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, delivered a compelling address at the RISE//DEL Conference 2025 in New Delhi, emphasizing the transformative potential of India’s creative ecosystem. He called on the creative industry to share India’s narrative with the world, highlighting the importance of digital innovation in driving economic growth. Goyal outlined key areas for development, including responsible content creation, innovative storytelling, skill development, and the export of Indian creativity.

Empowering Creators to Shape India’s Narrative

During his speech, Goyal stressed the vital role of creators as digital ambassadors for India. He urged them to take responsibility for their work and to focus on authenticity and trust. “The dreams that you create and nurture will ultimately meet reality,” he stated, encouraging collaboration among creators to forge impactful stories for the future. He believes that by uniting on a common platform, the creative community can significantly enhance India’s cultural footprint globally.

Goyal also referenced Prime Minister Narendra Modi‘s Digital India initiative, launched a decade ago, which aimed to democratize access to technology and content creation. He pointed out that low-cost data has been a cornerstone of this initiative, making India the largest consumer of data worldwide. “When we combine low-cost data with the high-quality talent that India possesses, we have a revolution awaiting us in the field of creativity and technology,” he remarked, highlighting the unique advantages India holds in the global market.

Expanding Horizons in the Creative Sector

The Minister outlined the vast opportunities within India’s evolving creative sector, which now extends beyond traditional fields like film and theater to include gaming, AI-driven content, and digital media. He noted that this industry has already become a multi-billion-dollar sector, employing a significant number of people across the country. “The creative industry of the past is now merging with futuristic technologies to create new forms of entertainment,” he explained, emphasizing the need for innovation in storytelling and content creation.

Goyal encouraged participants at the RISE//DEL Conference to leverage their engagements to develop a roadmap for future growth. He acknowledged the influence of social media and digital platforms in connecting people to India’s rich history and culture. He also highlighted the potential for educational tools derived from India’s pedagogy, presenting immense opportunities for content creators to engage with audiences effectively.

Collaborative Efforts for Global Engagement

In his address, Goyal reiterated the government’s role as a facilitator in nurturing individual ideas and technologies. He emphasized India’s increasing collaboration with the international community in creative fields, inviting global artists to participate in India’s cultural landscape. “The more we engage with the world, the more opportunities will open up for Indian creators,” he stated, underscoring the importance of global acceptance for Indian artists.

He also discussed the potential of creatively designed experiences to boost tourism, using the Mahakumbh as an example of how digital storytelling can attract international audiences. “As you take the India experience to the world, it will generate greater curiosity and drive more tourists to India, contributing to the economy many times over,” he asserted, highlighting the government’s commitment to enhancing visitor experiences.

India’s Aspiration to Become the Content Capital

Concluding his address, Goyal reaffirmed India’s ambition to emerge as the content capital of the world. He urged creators to focus on responsible and innovative content, emphasizing the importance of skills in filmmaking, music production, gaming, and digital media for boosting India’s export earnings. “RISE is the future of the content creator industry, and its contribution will be crucial to Indiaโ€™s rise in Amrit Kaal to become a developed nation,” he declared, encouraging creators to confidently share their stories and build lasting legacies.
