Patna, March 11, 2025 โ€“ The XR Creator Hackathon held in Patna on March 8, 2025, marked a significant milestone in the realm of Extended Reality (XR) technologies. Organized under the โ€˜Create in Challengeโ€™ initiative of the World Audio-Visual and Entertainment Summit (WAVES) 2025, this event showcased the burgeoning talent and enthusiasm for XR innovations across Bihar. With over 2,200 participants from more than 150 cities nationwide, the hackathon is a testament to India’s commitment to advancing technology.

The WAVES XR Creator Hackathon (XCH) serves as a pioneering platform for developers to explore the vast possibilities of augmented and virtual reality. This initiative, backed by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, collaborates with industry leaders such as Wavelaps, BharatXR, and XDG. Together, they aim to redefine human interaction with technology through innovative XR solutions. The event in Patna highlighted the collaborative spirit among academia, industry, and government, emphasizing the importance of fostering a robust technological ecosystem in India.

The meetup featured an impressive lineup of speakers, including Dr. Rajiv Mishra, Head of the Department at IIT Patna, and Preetesh Anand, Founder & CEO of Oplus Cowork. Their presentations underscored the significance of XR technologies in enhancing educational and cultural experiences. Dr. Mishra introduced an immersive project that recreates Nalanda University in mixed reality, showcasing how XR can play a pivotal role in cultural preservation. Anand also shared insights into Bihar’s startup ecosystem, advocating for innovation and entrepreneurship as key drivers for the region’s growth.

A highlight of the event was the participation of the finalist team, neAR, which developed Bharat’s first Social AR app. They shared their journey and the transformative impact of their project, providing attendees with valuable insights into the benefits of engaging in the hackathon.
