Honor Unveils Ambitious AI Ecosystem Plan
Honor has officially launched its Alpha Plan, a strategic initiative aimed at establishing an open artificial intelligence (AI) ecosystem. Announced ahead of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025 in Barcelona, the Chinese tech company revealed several AI innovations, including AI agents, advanced imaging technology, and a new AI-powered PC. The plan emphasizes collaboration with industry leaders to drive innovation in AI, robotics, and artificial general intelligence (AGI).
Honor’s Vision: The Alpha Plan
In a recent announcement, Honor outlined its Alpha Plan, a comprehensive strategy designed to position the company as a frontrunner in the AI device ecosystem. The plan is structured around three key steps aimed at revolutionizing the industry. Honor is actively seeking partnerships with major players like Qualcomm and Google Cloud to enhance its AI capabilities. During the event, representatives from CKH Group, Orange, Telefónica, and Vodafone were also invited to discuss collaborative opportunities.
James Li, CEO of Honor, emphasized the transformative potential of AI, stating, “The AI revolution will reshape the paradigm of the device industry—completely transforming our productivity, our society, and even our culture more than ever before.” He called for unity within the industry to tackle the challenges and seize the opportunities presented by AI technology.
The first step of the Alpha Plan focuses on developing an “intelligent phone” equipped with AI agents. Honor plans to co-create these capabilities with its partners. The second step introduces the concept of physical AI, which encompasses robotics. Finally, the third step envisions the AGI era, where technology will push the boundaries of human potential.
Showcasing Innovative AI Technologies
Alongside its strategic vision, Honor showcased groundbreaking AI technologies in collaboration with Google Cloud and Qualcomm. A notable demonstration featured a mobile AI agent capable of making restaurant reservations through third-party services. This agent not only handled the reservation but also integrated the information into Honor’s calendar app and provided timely alerts based on real-time traffic conditions. These agentic features are set to be rolled out to international markets soon.
Additionally, Honor introduced AiMage, its new in-house imaging technology brand. Powered by an AI Kernel, AiMage supports hybrid device-cloud AI models. The technology includes a 1.3 billion parameter AI model designed to enhance image clarity by 50 percent, alongside a server-based model with 12.4 billion parameters focused on improving telephoto image quality. AiMage will also debut a tool called AI Upscale, which restores old portraits, starting with the Honor Magic 7 Series 1 in March. Furthermore, the company plans to launch an AI Deepfake detection tool for its smartphones in international markets.
Commitment to Sustainability and Longevity
As part of its commitment to an ecosystem-based approach, Honor announced that its Magic series devices will receive seven years of Android OS and security updates, beginning in the European Union market. This initiative underscores the company’s dedication to providing long-term support for its products.
In addition to its technological advancements, Honor is also focusing on sustainability. The company aims to achieve operational carbon neutrality by 2024 and plans to extend this commitment to its entire supply chain and product line by 2050. This dual focus on innovation and environmental responsibility positions Honor as a forward-thinking player in the tech industry.
