2nd meeting of India-Tanzania Joint Defence Cooperation Committee held in Arusha

The second edition of the Joint Defense Cooperation Committee (JDCC) meeting between India and Tanzania was held in Arusha on 28-29 June 2023. The Indian delegation, led by Joint Secretary Shri Amitabh Prasad, included senior officials from the Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces. The meeting was also attended by the High Commissioner of India in Tanzania Shri Binay S Pradhan.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed a wide range of opportunities for cooperation to enhance security in the Indian Ocean region. The Indian delegation highlighted the growing ability of Indian defense manufacturing to export to friendly countries. A five-year roadmap for defense cooperation was also agreed between the two sides, covering initiatives ranging from customized training and capability development to maritime cooperation, infrastructure construction and collaboration in equipment and technologies for the defence.

Defense PSU representatives also accompanied the Indian delegation. They held extensive meetings with Tanzanian forces stakeholders on the sidelines of the JDCC meeting.

India shares close, warm and friendly relations with Tanzania, underpinned by robust capacity building and avenues for partnership for development. The visit of the Indian delegation for the JDCC meeting is expected to further strengthen the defense relationship with Tanzania.
