Padmanath Gohain Baruah (24 October 1871 โ 18 January 1946) was a distinguished writer and poet from Assam. He is remembered for his significant contributions to Assamese literature and culture.
Ashoka Mehta (24 October 1911 – 1984), the famous politicians of India. He was a socialist leader, parliamentarian and thinker. Ashok Mehta also contributed in the freedom struggle of India. Lakshmi Sehgal (24 October 1914 – 23 July 2012), Dr. Lakshmi Sehgal was born in 1914 in a traditional Tamil family and studied medicine at Madras Medical College, then moved to Singapore. During World War II, when Japanese forces attacked British forces in Singapore, Lakshmi Sahgal joined Subhas Chandra Bose’s Azad Hind Fauj. She was influenced by the nationalist movement since childhood and when Mahatma Gandhi started the boycott movement of foreign goods, Lakshmi Sehgal took part in it. She became the first woman member in the cabinet of the provisional Azad Hind government in 1943. She went to Singapore as a doctor, but at the age of 98, she still treats the sick at her home in Kanpur. Lakshmi Sehgal was highly active in the Rani Jhansi Regiment of Azad Hind Fauj. Later he was given the rank of Colonel, but people remembered him only as Captain Lakshmi. The Government of India honored him with the Padma Vibhushan in 1998. Subhashini Ali, daughter of Dr. Laxmi Sehgal, was also a Communist Party of India MP from Kanpur in 1989. She was Born on 24 October 1914 in Tamilnadu.
R. K. Laxman (24 October 1921 โ 26 January 2015) was a celebrated cartoonist, illustrator, and humorist. He is best known for his creation “The Common Man” and for his daily cartoon strip “You Said It” in The Times of India.
Krishnaswamy Kasturirangan, is an Indian space scientist. As a physicist, he has been the chairman of ‘ISRO’, the chairman of the Space Commission and the secretary of the Department of Space, Government of India. Dr. K. Kasturirangan led the Indian space program for more than nine years as the Chairman of the Indian Space Research Organization and Secretary, Department of Space, Government of India, before stepping down on August 27, 2003. As the Chairman of the Indian Space Research Organization and Secretary of the Department of Space, Government of India, for more than 9 years, superbly conducted the Indian Space Program. Rafi Ahmed Kidwai (18 February 1894 โ 24 October 1954), a freedom fighter and a prominent politician of the country. When the Swaraj Party was formed within the Congress, Kidwai joined it. In 1926, he was elected a member of the Central Legislative Assembly on a Swaraj Party ticket and was made the chief whip of the Swarajya Party there. Rafi Ahmed Qidwai’s early education took place in Barabanki and AMO of Aligarh. He completed his graduation from college. The education of law could not be completed that on the call of Mahatma Gandhi, he joined the non-cooperation movement. Rafi Ahmed Qidwai was married in the year 1918, with whom they had a son. Unfortunately, the child passed away at the age of seven. He was arrested and imprisoned for ten months on charges of campaigning against the British government. He died on 24 October 1954.
Manna Dey (1 May 1919 โ 24 October 2013), also affectionately known as Manna Da, was a well-known Indian playback singer in the film industry. His real name was Prabodh Chandra Dey, his name was Prabodh Chandra Dey, who was the son of Puran Chandra Dey, a film was made in West Bengal. Manna Da started his film career in 1942 with the film Tamanna and lent his voice to more than 3000 songs from 1942 to 2013. Apart from mainly Hindi and Bengali film songs, he also composed some of his songs in other Indian languages. Get it recorded. The Government of India honored him with the Padma Shri in 1971, the Padma Bhushan in 2005 and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2007. Perhaps this is the reason why the famous Hindi poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan chose Manna Dey to give voice to his immortal work Madhushala. Manna Dey rose to fame in 1961 after the success of the film Kabuliwala, directed by music director Salil Chowdhury. He died on 24 October 2013.
Girija Devi (8 May 1929 โ 24 October 2017) was an esteemed Indian classical singer of the Seniya and Banaras gharanas. She specialized in the thumri genre of Hindustani classical music and was fondly known as ‘Thumri Queen’.
