Padmanarayan Rai (10 January 1908 – 31 January 1968), a Hindi essayist and litterateur. He was the editor of ‘Nagri Pracharini Patrika’ for a long time. He was born on 10 January 1908 in Narsinghpur, Madhya Pradesh.
Gurdial Singh, a famous Punjabi litterateur. He was awarded the Jnanpith Award in 1999. He is the second Punjabi litterateur after Amrita Pritam to be given the Jnanpith Award. Gurdial Singh is a famous story writer of the Punjabi language who speaks of the common man. Like many famous writers, Gurdial Singh’s achievement as a novelist can also be seen in the context of his early life experiences. He was born on 10 January 1933.
Kattassery Joseph Yesudas, a famous classical and film playback singer of ‘Karnataka music’. His melodious voice leaves a deep impression on the listeners. Apart from Hindi, Yesudas has also lent his melodious voice to songs in Malayalam, Tamil, Kannada, Telugu, Bengali, Gujarati, Oriya, Marathi, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Russian and Arabic languages. He started his career in the year 1961. Songs sung by him like ‘Gori Tera Gaon Bada Pyara’, ‘Surmai Akhiyon Mein’, ‘Dil Ke Tukde-Tukde Karke’, ‘Janeman-Jaaneman Tere Do Nayan’, ‘Chand Jaise Mukhde Pe’ went on everyone’s tongue. Sampurnanand (1 January 1889 – 10 January 1969), a famous freedom fighter and politician, who was also the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and the Governor of Rajasthan. He was a skilled and fearless politician and a writer and teacher with all-around talent. He had deep penetration in history, mythology, philosophy, politics, sociology, etc. He also had a great interest in spiritual subjects. He was a person of socialist ideas and in 1934 he was also a major hand along with Acharya Narendra Dev in the formation of the ‘Samajwadi Party’ within the Congress. He died on 10 January 1969.
Fearless Nadia (8 January 1908 – 10 January 1996), one of the most famous actresses of Indian cinema. Not only in Hindi, in the history of cinema of any Indian language, but they also have never been another heroine of such a Dabang, fearless, brave, stuntbaaz, Tarzan, or Robinhood style. Nadia gave such a lively performance in the thirties and forties of Hindustani cinema as a daring and courageous actress that she demolished many beliefs of traditional Indian society. Nadia was a huge star in her time. She gave many hit films on his own but could not get the respect that she deserved. She died on 10 January 1996.
