Zoom Launches Advanced AI Features for Users

Zoom has introduced a suite of innovative artificial intelligence (AI) features for its AI Companion, enhancing user experience across its platforms. The new capabilities will allow the AI assistant to perform tasks on behalf of users, manage complex actions, and utilize reasoning and memory. These features are set to roll out across Zoom Meetings, Team Chat, Zoom Phone, and other business solutions in the coming months.

Enhanced Task Management with AI Companion

In a recent press release, Zoom outlined several exciting AI features that will soon be available. One of the standout additions is Zoom Tasks with AI Companion, which can identify, complete, and manage tasks within the Workplace platform. This feature will automatically detect action items from meeting summaries, chats, and emails, allowing it to schedule follow-up meetings or generate necessary documents. The rollout for this agentic capability is expected by the end of March.

Another significant enhancement is the Meeting Agendas feature, designed to keep discussions focused. Meeting hosts will be able to set timers for agenda sections and receive AI-generated live notes throughout the meeting. At the conclusion, the assistant will summarize action items for participants. This feature is anticipated to launch in May, further streamlining meeting productivity.

Additionally, the live notes functionality will extend to Zoom Phone, providing real-time summaries during calls. This will help users stay on track and focused on relevant topics. Other features include voicemail summaries and integration with Microsoft Teams. A new voice recorder for the Zoom Workplace mobile app, capable of transcribing and summarizing in-person conversations, is also set to debut in late March.

AI Companion for Hybrid Work Environments

Zoom is also addressing the needs of hybrid workers with the AI Companion for Workspace Reservation. This feature will assist professionals in managing their office schedules by indicating when they should be in the office, suggesting optimal days based on meetings, and facilitating desk or Zoom Room bookings. This functionality is expected to be available in May, catering to the evolving work landscape.

Moreover, Zoom Docs will receive enhancements that allow for improved content creation, including the ability to generate writing plans based on prompts and search both internal and external databases for information. This upgrade is slated for release in June. The AI Companion will also gain the ability to automatically create data tables from meeting summaries, with an expected launch in July.

New AI Tools and Customization Options

Zoom is introducing Zoom Drive, a centralized repository for meeting and productivity assets, which will simplify access to resources across Zoom Workplace. This feature is also set to arrive in May. Additionally, the Zoom Contact Center will benefit from new agentic functions, including the introduction of the Zoom Virtual Agent, equipped with natural language processing to handle complex queries and execute tasks on behalf of users.

To further enhance user experience, Zoom will offer a custom AI Companion add-on, allowing organizations to tailor the assistant to their specific needs. Users will have access to the AI Studio to customize vocabulary, integrate internal data sources, and add third-party applications. This add-on will be available for purchase in April at a monthly fee of $12 (approximately Rs. 1,038).
