Scene 1: Sweet Secrets and Sudden Scrutiny
Abhira hums softly as she carefully places a freshly baked cake into a cupboard. She glances around nervously before shutting the door. “No mistakes this time,” she mutters under her breath. The next morning, the kitchen buzzes with activity. Vidya rummages through pots and pans, muttering, “Where’s the cooker whistle?” Abhira freezes. Spotting the cake still on the counter, she snatches it and darts to the cupboard, shoving it inside just as Vidya turns around. Vidya narrows her eyes at Abhira’s frantic movements but says nothing. Instead, she points at Abhira’s face. “New cream?” she asks, tilting her head. Abhira touches her under-eye area, startled. “Oh! Got it on sale,” she replies quickly. Vidya smirks. “That won’t fix things,” she says, crossing her arms. “You’re stuck in a dark hole of your own making.” Abhira stiffens but stays quiet, her hands gripping the edge of the counter. The tension snaps when Kaveri storms into the room. “Why’d you touch my water bucket?” she snaps at Vidya. Vidya throws her hands up. “I didn’t! You think I’ve got nothing better to do?” The two women square off, shouting over each other about water rights and respect. Abhira watches silently, then steps between them. “Let me get more water,” she offers, grabbing a bucket. Kaveri nods, shooting Vidya a final glare before marching outside.
Scene 2: Prayers and Promises in Silent Rooms
Back home, Vidya kneels before a small altar, clutching a framed photo of Armaan. Her voice quivers as she whispers, “Please, just let him come home.” She pockets the photo hastily as footsteps approach. Kaveri and Abhira return, arms heavy with water jars. Vidya straightens her back. “I’m fasting today,” she announces. “For Armaan.” Abhira drops a spoon clattering to the floor. Kaveri sighs, setting down her bucket. “Stop this,” she murmurs. Vidya whirls on her. “Why? He’s my son!” Her voice hardens. “He left us seven years ago and never looked back. Not even a message.” Kaveri’s jaw tightens. “At least Abhira’s trying to move forward.” Vidya laughs bitterly. “Is she?” She strides to a drawer, yanking it open. Abhira’s cake sits beside a small wrapped gift labeled “Happy Birthday, Pookie.” Abhira’s face pales. “I… this isn’t…” Vidya cuts her off. “You pretend to forget, but you don’t sleep. You bake cakes. You buy presents.” She tosses the gift onto the table. “You’re stuck too.”
Scene 3: Echoes of the Past, Buried and Bare
The room falls silent. Kaveri breaks the stillness. “We’re all stuck,” she says quietly. “But hiding won’t help.” Vidya’s shoulders slump. “And pretending won’t either,” she retorts. “You miss your family too, Kaveri. Why not admit it?” Kaveri opens her mouth to argue but closes it, turning away. Abhira stares at Armaan’s photo, still clutched in Vidya’s hand. “How long till we stop fighting?” she murmurs. Her gaze drifts to the window. “Pookie’s out there somewhere,” she whispers. “I wonder if she thinks of us.” Vidya softens slightly. “She’s happy,” she says, almost to herself. “That’s all we can hope for.” Outside, the sun dips low. In a distant town, Pookie giggles as her grandfather adjusts an umbrella display in a park. She tugs his hand, chattering excitedly. Back home, Abhira touches her hidden cake, wondering when—or if—her daughter might taste it.
Scene 4: Shadows and Surprises Beyond the Horizon
That night, Abhira lies awake, staring at the ceiling. “Why did life split us apart?” she wonders aloud. In her mind replay the moments: baking cakes for birthdays no one celebrates, hiding tears behind cream, watching Vidya cling to a fading hope. Suddenly, her thoughts shift. A vision flashes—a boy laughing beside Pookie at a party, the girl beaming up at him. “Mother!” Pookie cries, running toward… a woman Abhira doesn’t recognize. The boy turns, and Abhira gasps. “No,” she whispers. “This can’t be real.” As dawn breaks, the house remains quiet. Vidya prays again, Kaveri sweeps the yard, and Abhira clutches the cake box, her knuckles white. Somewhere far away, Pookie skips stones by a lake, her laughter carried on the wind.
The Episode Ends Here
Precap: Abhira stares at the wall, her mind racing. “Why did destiny tear me from Pookie?” she murmurs. Her thoughts spiral to the vision she can’t shake: Armaan, alive and laughing at Pookie’s birthday party. The girl hugs him tightly, shouting, “Mother!” to a woman Abhira has never met. Her breath catches. “Armaan… with Pookie?” she whispers. “But how?” The questions pile up, heavier than the cake box in her hands. Somewhere unseen, a storm brews—one that could change everything.
