Welcome to the Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai written update for 18th August 2024. Today’s episode was filled with intense emotions and significant decisions as Abhira and the family face challenges that test their relationships.
Abhira’s Dilemma Over the Rings
The episode begins with Abhira first seeing the rings. Charu tells them to choose rings without each other seeing. Abhira looks at the price of the ring, which is 5 lakhs. She tells herself that she’ll just come. Rohit tells her that she, too, will choose a ring. Ruhi wonders why. He explains that their relationship is about to start anew, and he’d like to give her a brand new ring. However, Abhira looks at her balance of 5000 rupees and begins to cry. Vidya holds her as Abhira expresses her financial worries. Vidya tries to comfort her, explaining that her parents spent a lot on her wedding, but she didn’t like it. She knows Abhira is independent and doesn’t want to spend so much.
Family Tensions Rise
Meanwhile, Madhav and Manoj leave the house and ask the family to choose rings. Ruhi notices Armaan and picks up a ring, which Armaan also picks. Rohit watches as Manisha tells Armaan they are going to his room. Rohit tells Ruhi to choose a ring, but Armaan says they can select it, and he will come later. Manisha makes a point that just as Armaan and Abhira wouldn’t disturb Ruhi during her date, neither should Ruhi interrupt Armaan while he is choosing a ring for Abhira.
Dadi’s Concerns and Abhira’s Resolve
Dadi overhears Vidya talking to Abhira and learns that Armaan values relationships more than money. Vidya advises Dadi that sharing joys and sorrows includes sharing money, which makes Dadi smile before she leaves. Vidya reassures Abhira that new relationships are tested daily and urges her to have patience. Abhira then asks if the man has only gold rings, and he replies that the Poddar family values jewels and won’t wear only gold. As Abhira checks the price, Dadi asks if she can adapt to the family. Abhira assures her that she will try her best but expresses reluctance to change her last name, despite Dadi’s insistence.
Abhira’s Internal Struggle
Dadi tries to convince Abhira to adopt the name Pratima, symbolizing an idol that remains quiet and increases family respect. Abhira, however, remains firm in her decision, stating that while the name is fine, it is not hers and she cannot change it. Dadi becomes upset, questioning Abhira’s love for Armaan and reminding her of the sacrifices Armaan is willing to make for her. She gives Abhira one day to think it over before everyone gathers for Raksha Bandhan.
Armaan’s Gesture and Abhira’s Emotional Conflict
Armaan later approaches Abhira, hiding her mirror. He shows her the ring he picked out just for her, trying to cheer her up. Despite Armaan’s efforts to make her smile, Abhira remains troubled but agrees to find rings for him. Armaan reveals the ring’s price is 25 lakhs, which shocks Abhira. She wonders if 25 lakhs is really “just” 25 lakhs, feeling the weight of the financial burden. Armaan reassures her, planning to have their rings polished, and they share a tender moment before she leaves, still conflicted.
