Xiaomi Partners with Google for AI Integration

Xiaomi has announced a significant collaboration with Google, unveiling plans to integrate the Gemini AI chatbot into its Xiaomi 15 series ahead of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025 in Barcelona. This partnership marks a pivotal moment for the Chinese tech giant, as it allows Gemini to access and perform tasks across various first-party Xiaomi applications. In conjunction with this announcement, Xiaomi also launched the Xiaomi 15 Ultra and Xiaomi 15 in global markets.
Xiaomi Integrates Gemini AI into Xiaomi 15 Series
In a recent blog post, Xiaomi detailed its partnership with Google, emphasizing the integration of Gemini AI into the Xiaomi 15 series. This collaboration enables the Gemini chatbot to interact with several Xiaomi applications, including Xiaomi Notes, Xiaomi Calendar, and Xiaomi Clock. This is a groundbreaking move for Xiaomi, as it is the first instance of the company allowing a third-party AI service to access its proprietary apps.
While specifics on the integration process remain sparse, Xiaomi has indicated that Gemini will be capable of retrieving information and executing various tasks within these applications. Users can expect functionalities such as creating new notes, setting calendar events, and establishing alarms. However, it remains unclear if users will have the ability to edit or delete existing notes, events, or alarms through the Gemini interface.
Xiaomi has also noted that the availability of these features may differ based on device, country, and language, and an Internet connection will be necessary for functionality. Users of the Xiaomi 15 series will likely need to utilize the Gemini AI assistant to access these capabilities, as they are server-based features requiring online connectivity.
This integration signifies Xiaomi’s commitment to enhancing its AI offerings, which have previously been limited to camera functionalities and the China-exclusive Super Xiao AI assistant. Additionally, the Xiaomi 15 series will feature Google’s Circle to Search, an AI-driven visual lookup tool.
Xiaomi Announces HyperOS 2 Rollout Schedule
In a related development, Xiaomi has revealed that its new HyperOS 2 operating system will be available globally with the Xiaomi 15 series, providing users with early access to the Hyper AI suite. Although the company did not elaborate on the specific AI features included, this announcement underscores Xiaomi’s ambition to compete with Samsung’s Galaxy AI capabilities and Oppo’s in-house AI tools.
According to Xiaomi’s official post on X (formerly Twitter), HyperOS 2 with HyperAI is now pre-installed on the Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 15 Ultra models in global markets. The recently launched Pad 7 and Pad 7 Pro will also come equipped with this update, alongside the Xiaomi Watch S4 and Redmi Watch 5, although the latter two devices will not feature AI functionalities.
The rollout of HyperAI will extend to the Xiaomi 14 lineup, Xiaomi Mix Flip, Redmi Note 14 Pro+ 5G, and Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro starting in April. Furthermore, Xiaomi has outlined a comprehensive schedule for the HyperOS 2 update, stating that the Xiaomi 13T Pro, Redmi Note 13 series, and Smart Band 9 Pro will receive the update by the end of March.
Subsequent updates will be available for the remaining Xiaomi 13 series, the entire Xiaomi 12 series, Mi 11 and Mi 11 Ultra, Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE, and various Redmi models by May. Additionally, the Redmi Note 14 series, Redmi A3 Pro, and Redmi 14C will receive updates between March and June.
