Digital Poster Making Competition Overview
The digital poster competition featured a jury composed of notable figures in the art and photography community, including Aditya Arya, the Founder Director of Museo Camera Gurugram, and Ananda Moy Banerji, an Artist Printmaker and Vice Principal at South Delhi Polytechnic for Women. The jury undertook a meticulous multi-stage evaluation process, initially shortlisting 197 entries before selecting the final 50 based on criteria such as creativity, originality, and storytelling impact. Among the top 50, three finalists have been recognized: Saptosindhu Sengupta, Shivangi Sarmah Kashyap, and Suresh D Nair. The ultimate rankings of these finalists will be revealed at the upcoming WAVE Summit, where the winning posters will also be showcased digitally, providing a significant platform for visibility and recognition.
Celebrating Hand-Painted Art
In addition to the digital competition, WAVES will feature a Live Hand-Painted Film Poster Making Competition, celebrating a traditional art form that has historically shaped the visual identity of Indian cinema. This segment pays homage to legendary artists like MF Husain and SM Pandit, emphasizing the rich heritage of hand-painted posters. From numerous entries, 10 student artists have been selected to participate in this live event, where they will demonstrate their skills by creating hand-painted film posters in real-time. The top three artists will be honored for their exceptional contributions to this culturally significant medium, further highlighting the importance of traditional art in contemporary settings.
