WAVES Bazaar Launches First ‘Top Selects’ Lineup Featuring 15 Products

India is set to showcase its vibrant Media and Entertainment sector at the inaugural World Audio Visual & Entertainment Summit (WAVES), scheduled for May 1-4, 2025, in Mumbai. This landmark event aims to position India as a premier destination for content creation and investment, while promoting the ‘Create in India’ initiative. The summit will feature a global marketplace, WAVES Bazaar, designed to foster collaboration among industry professionals and facilitate the exchange of innovative ideas and projects.
WAVES Bazaar: A Global Marketplace
WAVES Bazaar stands out as a premier global marketplace tailored for the media and entertainment industry. This dynamic platform is designed to connect filmmakers and industry professionals with buyers, sellers, and a diverse array of projects. Participants will have the opportunity to showcase their skills, engage in networking, and explore potential collaborations. The event aims to enhance the visibility of Indian talent on a global scale, encouraging international partnerships and investments in the Indian media landscape.
The WAVES Bazaar will also feature a dedicated Viewing Room, where attendees can explore recently completed films and projects from around the world. This space will serve as a hub for films seeking opportunities for festival screenings, global sales, distribution partnerships, and finishing funds. By providing a secure environment for industry professionals, the Viewing Room aims to facilitate direct connections between filmmakers and potential investors or distributors.
Showcasing Global Talent
The inaugural WAVES Bazaar will present an impressive lineup of 100 films from eight countries, including India, Sri Lanka, the USA, Switzerland, Bulgaria, Germany, Mauritius, and the UAE. Among these, 18 titles will be produced or co-produced by the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC), alongside eight restored classics from the National Film Archive of India (NFAI). Additionally, the event will feature 19 student projects from prestigious institutions such as the Film & Television Institute of India (FTII) in Pune and the Satyajit Ray Film & Television Institute (SRFTI) in Kolkata.
A highlight of the event will be the WAVES Bazaar Top Selects Section, which will showcase 15 carefully curated projects. This selection includes nine feature films, two documentaries, two short films, and two web series. These projects will have the opportunity to pitch directly to producers, sales agents, distributors, festival programmers, and potential investors during an open pitching session at the Jio World Centre in Mumbai on May 2, 2025.
Empowering the Media Landscape
The WAVES Summit is not just about showcasing films; it aims to empower the entire media landscape in India. The event will focus on various sectors, including broadcasting, print media, television, radio, films, animation, visual effects, gaming, and digital media. By bringing together industry leaders, creators, and innovators, WAVES seeks to amplify India’s creative strength and solidify its position as a hub for content creation and technological innovation. The summit will also explore emerging trends in generative AI, augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and extended reality (XR). By fostering discussions around these topics, WAVES aims to inspire new ideas and collaborations that can shape the future of the media and entertainment industry in India and beyond.
