Vivo X Fold 5 Design Teased with 8T LTPO Confirmation

Vivo is gearing up to unveil its latest foldable smartphone, the Vivo X Fold 5, with an official launch date yet to be announced. A teaser shared by a company executive on Weibo has provided a glimpse into the device’s design and key specifications. The Vivo X Fold 5 is set to feature advanced LTPO 8T panels for both its inner and outer displays, boasting an impressive peak brightness of 4,500 nits. Additionally, the device is designed to withstand dust and water, meeting IP5X and IPX9+ standards.

Display and Design Features

The Vivo X Fold 5 promises to deliver a remarkable visual experience with its dual LTPO 8T panels. According to Han Boxiao, Vivo’s Product Manager, both the inner and outer displays will support an adaptive refresh rate, ultra-high resolution, and high pixel density. The screens are not only bright, reaching a peak brightness of 4,500 nits, but they also feature high-frequency PWM dimming for enhanced viewing comfort. Furthermore, the displays have received TรœV Rheinland global eye protection 3.0 certification and Zeiss Master color certification, ensuring that users enjoy vibrant colors while minimizing eye strain. The teaser campaign, which began last week in China, highlights the phone’s sleek and lightweight design, which is expected to be lighter than its predecessor, the Vivo X Fold 3.

Durability and Performance

In addition to its impressive display, the Vivo X Fold 5 is engineered for durability. The device is rated IP5X for dust resistance and IPX9+ for water resistance, indicating it can withstand challenging environments. Vivo claims that the foldable can endure being opened and closed 1,000 times, even when submerged in water up to one meter deep. The phone is also designed to operate normally in extreme cold, functioning effectively at temperatures as low as -20ยฐC. This combination of durability and performance makes the Vivo X Fold 5 a strong contender in the foldable smartphone market.

Expected Specifications

Recent leaks suggest that the Vivo X Fold 5 will weigh approximately 209 grams, making it a lightweight option in the foldable category. The device is anticipated to feature an 8.03-inch foldable inner display and a 6.53-inch cover display. Photography enthusiasts will appreciate the expected triple rear camera setup, which is rumored to include 50-megapixel sensors. Powering the device is likely to be a robust 6,000mAh battery, with support for 90W wired and 30W wireless charging. Additionally, the Vivo X Fold 5 is expected to be equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, paired with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, ensuring top-tier performance for users.
