Viksit Vibrant Villages Program Scheduled for May 15-30, 2025
The Viksit Vibrant Villages Program is set to transform India’s remote border regions through a collaborative effort led by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, alongside the Ministry of Home Affairs. Scheduled to take place from May 15 to May 30, 2025, this initiative will focus on areas in Leh-Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. With the involvement of 500 MY Bharat volunteers, the program aims to empower local communities by fostering youth engagement and driving development across various sectors.
Empowering Youth Through Volunteerism
The Viksit Vibrant Villages Program will engage 500 volunteers from across India, who will work closely with residents in 100 selected villages. These volunteers, known as MY Bharat volunteers, will play a crucial role in promoting grassroots initiatives. Their responsibilities will include providing educational support, enhancing infrastructure, and improving healthcare services. By leveraging the energy and creativity of young leaders, the program aims to create sustainable and positive changes in these border communities.
Registration for the program began on April 23, 2025, via the MY Bharat Portal. The selection process will include 10 volunteers from the Union Territories and 15 from each participating state, culminating in a total of 500 volunteers. This diverse group will be instrumental in coordinating activities and fostering community development throughout the program’s duration.
Community Development Initiatives
The program will unfold over a week, with each day dedicated to specific areas of community development. Activities will encompass a wide range of initiatives, including community engagement, youth leadership development, and cultural promotion. Volunteers will also focus on healthcare awareness, skill-building, and environmental protection practices.
Additionally, the program will feature fitness activities such as sports, yoga, and meditation, alongside creative outlets like open mic sessions and discussions centered on the theme “My Dream India.” These activities are designed to encourage knowledge transfer and foster a sense of national consciousness among participants. By documenting their experiences, volunteers will help amplify the voices of border communities, ensuring their stories reach a broader audience.
Redefining Border Villages
The Viksit Vibrant Villages Program aims to change the perception of border villages from being seen as isolated outposts to vibrant centers of culture and innovation. By showcasing their unique heritage, including language, art, and architecture, these villages will be celebrated as integral parts of India’s national identity. The initiative aspires to position these areas as ‘cultural beacons’ that contribute to the vision of a developed India by 2047.
Through sustained youth involvement, the program seeks to dismantle stereotypes and promote mutual respect and national unity. Orientation and Training for Volunteers
To prepare for their roles, selected volunteers will attend an orientation program in Delhi. This intensive training will equip them with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively engage with local communities. The orientation will focus on leadership development and understanding the specific needs of rural populations, ensuring that volunteers are well-prepared to implement the program’s objectives.
