Union Minister Highlights Hindi’s Role in Unity
The 83rd convocation of the Dakshina Bharat Hindi Prachar Sabha in Madras was a momentous occasion. Union Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways, Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, delivered the convocation address at the Mahatma Gandhi Convocation Hall. This event, presided over by Chief Guest Shri V Muraleedharan, President of the Sabha, saw the participation of nearly 8,000 students. These students received their Praveen and Visharad examination certificates, and rank holders from Madras were honored for their achievements.

Additionally, four distinguished litterateurs from Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam were honored, symbolizing Mahatma Gandhi’s vision of integration among diverse cultures.
The ceremony included the administration of the oath of allegiance to students pursuing MA, M.Phil, PhD, B.Ed, and PG Diploma courses. This act reinforced the commitment of these students to uphold the values of education and cultural unity. The presence of such a large number of students highlighted the growing interest in Hindi and its importance in fostering national unity.
