Ubisoft Announces Arrival of Assassin’s Creed Shadows

During Ubisoft’s first-quarter earnings call for FY 2025-26, CEO Yves Guillemot revealed plans for “Assassin’s Creed Shadows” beyond its initial expansion. He mentioned that the game had a strong start and that new versions are in development for various platforms. Guillemot stated, “On Assassin’s Creed Shadows, it had a very good start, and we have lots of things that are going to come soon.” He confirmed that an expansion is set to launch before the end of the quarter, alongside the announcement of new versions for other gaming systems.
While Guillemot did not explicitly confirm a version for the Switch 2, his comments strongly imply that the game will be available on Nintendo’s latest console. In the same earnings report, Ubisoft announced that “Assassin’s Creed Shadows” has surpassed five million unique players since its launch. Although specific unit sales figures were not disclosed, Guillemot expressed satisfaction with the game’s performance, stating it had “delivered on its expectations.” The company also confirmed that the game’s first expansion, titled “Claws of Awaji,” is set to release in the second quarter of FY 2025-26, which spans from July to September 2025. This expansion will introduce over ten hours of new content, including new weapons, skills, and abilities.
The speculation regarding a Switch 2 version intensified in April when “Assassin’s Creed Shadows” was listed on the PEGI ratings website, indicating that the platform would support the game. Since the launch of the Switch 2 in June, several major third-party titles have already been released, further solidifying the console’s growing library.
