Transformative Development Projects Unveiled in Kashi

On April 11, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated a series of significant development projects in Kashi, Varanasi, totaling over โ‚น3,880 crore. This initiative marks a pivotal moment in the city’s evolution, blending its rich heritage with modern infrastructure. Modi emphasized that Kashi is becoming a model of development, showcasing how tradition and progress can coexist harmoniously.

A New Era for Kashi

Kashi, often referred to as a living soul, is undergoing a remarkable transformation. The city, known for its spiritual significance and historical richness, is now embracing modernity. Prime Minister Modi highlighted that the ancient stones of Kashi tell stories of the past, while new developments reflect a promising future. The recent projects aim to enhance the city’s infrastructure, making it more accessible and efficient for both residents and visitors.

Ten years ago, navigating through Varanasi was a challenge, characterized by heavy traffic and dusty roads. Today, the narrative is changing with the introduction of projects like the Phulwariya flyover and the Ring Road, which are alleviating traffic congestion. These developments are not just about improving travel; they are about connecting communities and facilitating smoother journeys for pilgrims and daily commuters alike.

Infrastructure and Power Enhancements

Among the key projects inaugurated by PM Modi are a road bridge linking Varanasi Ring Road to Sarnath, new flyovers at Bhikharipur and Manduadih, and a highway underpass at the Varanasi International Airport. These projects, valued at over โ‚น980 crore, are set to bolster the city’s connectivity and support its growth trajectory.

In addition to transportation improvements, Modi also focused on enhancing Kashi’s power infrastructure. He inaugurated two 400 KV and one 220 KV substations, with an investment exceeding โ‚น1,045 crore. Further, new substations in Chaukaghat and Ghazipur, worth โ‚น775 crore, are expected to significantly improve the power supply in the region.

Empowering Communities Through Education and Health

Education and health are also at the forefront of Kashi’s development. PM Modi announced the establishment of 356 libraries and 100 Anganwadi centers to uplift rural education. Furthermore, he laid the groundwork for revamping 77 primary schools under the Smart City Mission, ensuring that quality education is accessible to all.

Healthcare initiatives are equally transformative. Through the Ayushman Bharat Yojana, millions of families in Uttar Pradesh have benefited from free medical treatment. Modi personally distributed Ayushman Vay Vandana cards to senior citizens, ensuring that those over 70 receive free healthcare, regardless of their financial status.

Fostering Economic Growth and Cultural Heritage

The development initiatives in Kashi extend beyond infrastructure and health. The Banas Dairy project has empowered thousands of small dairy farmers, particularly women, by providing them with financial bonuses and entrepreneurial opportunities. PM Modi emphasized the importance of schemes like the Kisan Credit Card and the Rashtriya Gokul Mission, which support farmers in raising healthier livestock and accessing better markets.

Moreover, Kashi’s rich cultural heritage is gaining recognition on a global scale. Over 30 local products have received the prestigious Geographical Indication (GI) tag, highlighting the region’s unique crafts and culinary offerings. To further promote this cultural wealth, Modi announced the creation of an Ekta Mall, where diverse Indian crafts will be showcased, reinforcing Kashi’s identity as a hub of tradition and innovation.

As Kashi stands at the intersection of tradition and modernity, it exemplifies how development can enhance lives while preserving cultural integrity. With a firm commitment to progress, the city is poised for a bright future, proud of its past and ready to embrace new opportunities.
