Textiles PLI Scheme Boosts Investment and Job Creation

Under the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for Textiles, the Indian government has approved a remarkable 170 companies. By March 31, 2026, these companies are set to invest ₹8,117.64 crores, leading to the creation of approximately 33,427 new jobs across various states in the country. This initiative aims to strengthen India’s textile sector and enhance employment opportunities in a key industry.
State-wise Investment and Employment Highlights
The investments and job creation statistics reveal significant contributions from several states. Gujarat leads the charge, with 46 companies contributing an investment of ₹1,903.38 crores and generating 4,493 jobs. Madhya Pradesh follows closely, with 22 companies having invested ₹658.45 crores, resulting in 4,970 jobs.
Maharashtra, with 24 companies, has made a considerable investment of ₹167.51 crores, creating 904 jobs in the process. In Uttar Pradesh, 15 companies participated, though their investment was minimal at ₹4.63 crores, and no job data was recorded. Tamil Nadu stands out for its notable impact, with 17 companies investing ₹1,277.16 crores and generating 7,930 jobs.
Karnataka is not far behind, with 6 companies bringing in ₹1,515.99 crores and creating 5,611 jobs. The state of Rajasthan has contributed with 6 companies and an investment of ₹219.91 crores, generating 1,139 jobs. Other notable mentions include Dadra & Nagar Haveli, which saw 6 companies invest ₹237.10 crores and create 1,310 jobs, and Andhra Pradesh, where 5 companies invested ₹170.99 crores, resulting in 2,619 jobs.
Haryana, although having 6 companies under the scheme, reported a minimal investment of just ₹1.36 crores, with only 6 jobs created. The other states such as Himachal Pradesh, Bihar, and Goa made various contributions, demonstrating the widespread impact of the PLI scheme across the nation.
