Telegram Update Introduces Direct Messages to Channels and Voice Messaging

Telegram has introduced a significant update to its messaging app, enhancing user experience with new features aimed at improving communication and navigation. The latest changes allow users to send direct messages to channels and engage in private chats with channel owners and admins. Additionally, the update includes a revamped layout for group topics and a streamlined method for trimming voice messages, making interactions more efficient and user-friendly.

Direct Messaging Enhancements

In its recent blog post, Telegram outlined the exciting new features available to users. One of the standout additions is the ability to send direct messages to channels, enabling private conversations with channel owners and administrators. This feature is particularly beneficial for content creators, allowing them to interact with their subscribers without disclosing personal information. The new messaging mode presents a distinct interface, separating these interactions from standard personal chats. Furthermore, creators can set a fee for each direct message, providing a monetization option for their engagement with followers.

Improved Group Navigation

Another notable update is the redesign of the topics layout within groups. This change aims to facilitate quicker access from the chat list, allowing users to navigate between conversations seamlessly. Telegram users can choose between a minimalist bar at the top of the chat or a larger sidebar for easier navigation. This feature can be activated through the Group Settings under the Topics section, enhancing the overall user experience by making it simpler to manage multiple discussions.

Voice Message Editing and Media Sharing

The update also brings improvements to voice messaging. Users can now easily trim the beginning and end of their voice messages by swiping up to lock the recording. Additionally, they can record new segments by tapping the microphone icon again, providing greater flexibility in message creation. In terms of media sharing, Telegram has introduced a โ€˜High Definitionโ€™ option for photos, which allows users to send images with four times the pixel count while keeping the file size under 0.5MB. Users can also share media directly to their Telegram stories from other applications using the default ‘Share’ button on iOS.

Polls and Other Features

The update further enhances the polling feature, now allowing up to 12 options per poll. Users can also save polls to their Saved Messages list for future reference, making it easier to keep track of important discussions. These updates reflect Telegram’s commitment to improving user interaction and providing tools that cater to the needs of its diverse user base. With these enhancements, Telegram continues to position itself as a leading platform for instant messaging and community engagement.
