Telegram Enhances User Experience with New Update

Telegram has launched a significant update that introduces exciting features and improvements to its messaging platform. Among the highlights is Chromecast support for Android users, enabling seamless video casting to larger screens. Additionally, the update focuses on enhancing user security against scams and spam, while also providing businesses with a cost-effective verification solution.
New Features and Improvements
In a recent blog post, Telegram outlined the latest features included in its monthly update. This release emphasizes the platform’s virtual currency, Telegram Stars, which users can utilize to unlock content and services within mini apps or to donate to others. In India, users can purchase 100 Stars for Rs. 199, making it accessible for many.
One of the standout additions is Chromecast support for Android users. This feature allows users to cast videos from the app directly to their Chromecast devices with just a few taps. To initiate casting, users need to open a video, tap on the settings icon, and select Chromecast from the menu. This enhancement aims to improve the viewing experience for users who prefer larger screens.
Enhanced Security Features
To bolster user security, Telegram is introducing a new information page feature designed to protect users from potential scams. When a user receives a message from someone outside their contacts for the first time, the app will display a detailed info page. This page will provide information such as the sender’s country (based on their phone number), their registration date on the platform, and any shared groups. It will also indicate whether the account is official or has third-party verification.
This feature is intended to help users identify unusual activities and potential scams before they respond to unknown contacts. By providing this information upfront, Telegram aims to create a safer messaging environment for its users.
Cost-Effective Verification for Businesses
Telegram is also rolling out new pricing for its Verification Platform, known as Telegram Gateway. This service offers businesses and startups a privacy-focused solution for verifying customer phone numbers at a significantly lower cost compared to traditional SMS methods. After a 20 percent discount, the price for SMS authentication is set at $0.01 (approximately Rs. 0.80).
Businesses can customize their verification process by setting a maximum delivery time for authentication codes. If the codes are not delivered within the specified window, the fee will be refunded. This feature not only enhances user verification but also ensures a cost-effective approach for businesses looking to authenticate their customers.
Monetization Opportunities for Users
In addition to security and verification enhancements, Telegram is introducing a new system that allows users who receive a high volume of messages to manage spam effectively while monetizing their popularity. Users can now set a fee for incoming messages from individuals outside their contacts. This innovative approach aims to reduce spam while providing a potential revenue stream for users.
The star system can also be applied to groups and channels, allowing group owners to monetize their community-building efforts while keeping discussions focused on relevant topics. This feature not only enhances user engagement but also creates new opportunities for content creators on the platform.
