Tecno Launches HiOS 15 with Enhanced AI Features Tailored for India

Tecno has officially launched its HiOS 15, built on Android 15, featuring a suite of new artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities tailored specifically for Indian users. The company collaborated with Sarvam AI, an Indian firm, to enhance its Ella voice assistant with vernacular speech support. Among the standout features are real-time translation, transcription, and summarization for phone calls, although Tecno has yet to announce the rollout date or the devices that will receive the update.

HiOS 15 to Bring New AI Features

In a recent press release, Tecno outlined the exciting new features set to debut with HiOS 15. Many of these innovations were initially showcased at the Internationale Funkausstellung Berlin last year. Tecno describes its AI enhancements as practical tools designed to add real value to users’ daily lives. A major highlight is the revamped Ella voice assistant, which now supports Hindi and will soon include Bengali, Gujarati, Marathi, and Tamil languages. This integration aims to make the assistant more conversational and user-friendly by incorporating Gemini technology.

Innovative Calling Features

Tecno is also introducing several AI-driven features focused on enhancing the calling experience. The AI Call Assistant stands out, offering real-time translations, transcriptions, and summaries for both regular and WhatsApp calls. Another notable feature is AI Auto Answer, which automatically responds to calls when the user is occupied and provides a summary afterward. Additionally, the AI Voiceprint Noise Suppression feature aims to minimize background noise during calls, ensuring clearer communication.

Advanced Writing and Document Tools

HiOS 15 will also include an AI Writing & Document Assistant, capable of summarizing, rewriting, and expanding text. This tool can convert handwritten notes into editable Word or PDF files, making it easier for users to manage their documents. Another utility, AI Screen Awareness, offers contextual support based on the content displayed on the screen, further enhancing user interaction with their devices.

Enhanced Image Editing and Privacy Features

For photography enthusiasts, HiOS 15 introduces three innovative AI features aimed at improving image editing. The upgraded AI Eraser 2.0 & Image Extender can remove unwanted objects from photos and expand images using voice commands. The AI Wallpaper Generator allows users to create custom wallpapers from text prompts and sketches, while AI Sharpness Plus sharpens blurry images directly on the device. Additionally, a privacy-focused feature called Smart Privacy with AI Blurring automatically detects and obscures sensitive information in screenshots before sharing. Beyond AI advancements, HiOS 15 also brings system-wide picture-in-picture support, a redesigned dropdown control panel, new animations, wallpapers, and improved optimizations for a better user experience.
