Tech Sector Jobs Top Salary Rankings: Entry-Level Positions Offer Up to Rs 28,600

The IT and IT-enabled services (ITeS) sector is leading the way in salary rankings, with fresh graduates in tech roles earning as much as Rs 28,600 per month. According to Indeed’s latest PayMap survey, professionals with five to seven years of experience can command salaries of up to Rs 68,900. This surge in compensation is primarily fueled by a growing demand for digital and AI-related positions, while other sectors like manufacturing and telecom are also experiencing significant salary growth.
Salary Trends Across Sectors
Indeed’s PayMap survey reveals that the IT and ITeS sectors are at the forefront of salary increases, particularly for entry-level positions. Freshers in tech roles can expect monthly salaries ranging from Rs 25,000 to Rs 30,500, with the highest pay found in software development and HR engineering. For those with five to eight years of experience, salaries can reach up to Rs 85,500 in product and project management roles. Notably, UI/UX designers are closing the gap with software developers, with senior designers earning as much as Rs 65,000 per month. The survey, which included responses from 1,311 employers and 2,531 employees, highlights a competitive landscape for talent across various roles.
Emerging Salary Hotspots
The survey also indicates a shift in India’s salary landscape, with cities like Hyderabad, Chennai, and Ahmedabad emerging as new hubs for salary growth. These Tier-2 cities are outpacing the national average annual salary increase of 15%, offering competitive pay alongside a favorable cost of living. Sashi Kumar, head of sales at Indeed India, noted that employees are increasingly prioritizing locations where compensation aligns with living costs and career opportunities. This trend suggests that job seekers are looking beyond traditional metropolitan areas for better prospects.
Cost of Living Concerns
Despite the rising salaries, many employees express concerns about affordability. The survey found that 69% of respondents feel their income is not keeping pace with the cost of living in their cities. This sentiment is particularly pronounced in major metropolitan areas such as Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, and Bengaluru, where a staggering 96% to 93% of employees reported financial strain. In contrast, cities like Chennai, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, and Kolkata are perceived as offering a more favorable balance between earnings and expenses, making them attractive options for career transitions.
Overall, while the job market shows promising salary growth, the challenge of maintaining a comfortable standard of living remains a significant issue for many professionals across India.
