Sunni Dam Hydroelectric Project approved for the investment of 382 MW
For an estimated cost of Rs. 382 million, the Sunni Dam Hydro Electric Project in Himachal Pradesh has been approved by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs chaired by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. There is budgetary support of Rs. 13.80 crores from the Indian Government for the cost of the enabling infrastructure component of 2614.51 crore. The cumulative expenditures incurred up to January 2022 amount to Rs.246 crore have been approved ex-post facto.
The project cost of Rs.2614 crore included hard costs of Rs.2246.40 crore, Interest During Construction (IDC) of Rs. 358.96 crore, and Financing Charges (FC) of Rs. 9.15 crore. The revised cost sanctions will be capped at ten percent of the sanctioned cost for quantity variations (including additions, alterations, extras, etc.).
Keeping in view the aims and objectives of Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan, the present proposal for setting up of 382 MW Sunni Dam HEP by SJVN shall provide various benefits to local suppliers/ local enterprises MSMEs and shall encourage entrepreneurship opportunities within the country besides promoting employment and socio-economic development of the region. The implementation of the project shall generate direct & indirect employment to about 4000 persons during the peak construction of the project.
