SUFALAM 2025 Aims to Enhance Innovation in Food Processing Sector

The Ministry of Food Processing Industries, in partnership with NIFTEM Kundli, is set to host the second edition of SUFALAM (Start-Up Forum for Aspiring Leaders and Mentors) on April 25-26, 2025, at the NIFTEM-K campus. This event aims to bolster the food processing sector by promoting innovation, sustainability, and entrepreneurship, aligning with the Government of India’s vision for an ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat.’ The two-day conclave will feature a variety of activities designed to empower startups and facilitate networking among industry leaders and young entrepreneurs.
Empowering Startups Through Knowledge Sharing
The upcoming SUFALAM event will kick off with an inaugural address by Union Cabinet Minister Shri Chirag Paswan, who will emphasize the importance of enhancing the ease of doing business for young entrepreneurs through various government schemes and subsidies. The program will include a keynote speech from Prof. Harpal Singh of IIT Delhi, who will share valuable insights from his entrepreneurial journey. Additionally, Dr. Subrata Gupta, Secretary of the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, will attend as the Guest of Honour, alongside special guest Prof. Rakesh Mohan Joshi, Vice Chancellor of the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, New Delhi.
The first day will feature experience-sharing sessions where industry leaders and startups will discuss their entrepreneurial journeys. Expert-led discussions will cover essential topics such as sustainable growth in the food sector, branding, digital outreach, and government support. Notable speakers include Mr. Abhishek Kakkar from the Indian Angel Network and Mr. Durlabh Rawat from Barosi Foods, who will participate in a panel discussion focused on responsible business scaling. Another session will delve into digital marketing strategies for food startups, led by senior officials from MeitY and marketing experts like Ms. Yashna Garg from Zeon Life Sciences.
Innovative Solutions and Networking Opportunities
On the second day of the conclave, young entrepreneurs will present their experiences in a session titled โPep Talk by Budding Startups.โ This session will feature speakers such as Ms. Isha Jhawar from Reipeat Gud Pvt Ltd, known for her preservative-free tomato ketchup and mayonnaise, and Mr. Romi Kulthia from Atpata, who merges traditional knowledge with modern technology. Other participants, including Mr. Priyanshu Raj of Aromaรฉ and Ms. Palak Arora of SatGuru Superfoods, will address challenges related to scaling and rural-urban market linkages. Sustainability-focused innovators like Mr. Anagh Goyal of 1.5 Degree will also share insights on climate-resilient business models.
The event has already attracted over 250 startups from 23 states, showcasing India’s diverse innovation landscape. Some startups are expected to present groundbreaking technologies, including cell-cultured meat, plant-based foods, and rapid detection kits for food safety. Approximately 35 startups will pitch their innovative ideas to evaluators from leading organizations such as Nestlรฉ and the Indian Angel Network. A dedicated session on sustainable food solutions will feature industry veterans discussing best practices and future trends.
Driving Collaboration in the Food Processing Sector
Beyond formal sessions, SUFALAM will provide ample networking opportunities through a Mentor Lounge and an exhibition showcasing innovations from startups and MSMEs. Union Cabinet Minister Shri Chirag Paswan highlighted the significance of the conclave, stating, โSUFALAM 2025 underscores our commitment to nurturing entrepreneurship in the food sector. By equipping startups with the right tools and networks, we are paving the way for a more self-reliant India.โ With over 300 participants, including entrepreneurs, investors, and policymakers, the conclave aims to foster collaboration and accelerate growth within India’s food processing industry. The event promises to be a pivotal moment for aspiring entrepreneurs, offering them the resources and connections needed to thrive in a competitive market. As the food processing sector continues to evolve, initiatives like SUFALAM play a crucial role in shaping a sustainable and innovative future for the industry.
