Sonu Sood Donates Rs 1.5 Lakh to Support Family of Late Fish Venkat
Telugu actor and comedian Venkat Raj, widely known as Fish Venkat, passed away on July 18 in Hyderabad at the age of 53. His death was attributed to complications from kidney disease, which had necessitated ongoing dialysis and intensive care. Despite his family’s efforts to raise funds for a kidney transplant estimated at Rs 50 lakh, they were unable to secure the necessary financial support in time. The news of his passing has prompted an outpouring of condolences and assistance from the film industry.
Support from the Film Industry
In the wake of Venkat’s death, actor Sonu Sood stepped forward to support the grieving family. He donated Rs 1.5 lakh to help with their immediate needs and reached out personally to Venkat’s wife and relatives to express his condolences. Sood was reportedly shocked to learn of Venkat’s passing, as he had initially believed the actor was still hospitalized and had a chance of recovery. His team confirmed that he assured the family of his ongoing support during this challenging time.
Venkat’s wife expressed her gratitude for Sood’s kindness, noting that her husband had always admired the actor. This gesture provided some comfort to the family amid their loss. The support from Sood and other members of the film fraternity has been a source of solace during this difficult period.
Clarification on Financial Assistance
Earlier reports suggested that actor Prabhas had pledged Rs 50 lakh for Venkat’s kidney transplant. However, Venkat’s family later clarified that they had not received any such assistance. They revealed that a person had contacted them, pretending to be Prabhas’s assistant, but it turned out to be a fraudulent call. The family emphasized that they had not received any financial help from Prabhas or anyone else.
Despite the confusion surrounding the alleged donation, other actors, including Vishwak Sen and Pawan Kalyan, had also offered their support. Pawan Kalyan reportedly made a donation after learning about Venkat’s condition. Although the financial aid was delayed, the gestures of support from the film community have provided some comfort to the family during this trying time.

Venkat Raj had a notable career in the Telugu film industry, appearing in several popular films such as “Adhurs,” “Gabbar Singh,” “Shivam,” and “Khaidi No 150.” His last on-screen role was in the 2024 film “Coffee with a Killer.” Venkat’s contributions to the industry and his comedic talent endeared him to many fans and colleagues alike. His passing marks a significant loss for the Telugu film community, which continues to mourn his departure while celebrating his legacy.
