Sikandar Cuts 14 Minutes Ahead of Release

In a surprising move, the makers of the upcoming film Sikandar, starring Salman Khan, have voluntarily trimmed 14 minutes and 28 seconds from the movie after receiving a censor certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). Initially approved with a runtime of 150 minutes, the final cut now stands at 135 minutes and 47 seconds. The film is set to hit theaters on March 30, following these significant edits.

CBFC Approval and Voluntary Edits

On March 21, Sikandar was granted a UA 13+ certificate by the CBFC, allowing it to be screened for audiences aged 13 and older. However, shortly after receiving the certificate, the film’s producers decided to make additional cuts to several scenes. According to industry sources, the CBFC must be notified of any changes made to a film post-certification. Consequently, the filmmakers approached the board again to seek approval for these voluntary edits.

The CBFC reviewed the proposed changes and approved them on March 24. The decision to trim the film was made to enhance pacing and tighten the narrative. A total of 26 scenes were affected, with four of those cuts exceeding one minute in length. Notable deletions include a 2-minute and 26-second scene featuring the dialogue ‘Chaar miss call…chalo Rajkot’ and a 4-minute scene with the line ‘Aa gaye aa gaye…bad husband.’

Details of the Cuts

The cuts made to Sikandar were extensive, with several scenes being shortened or removed entirely. Among the notable trims is a sequence where Salman Khan’s character, Sanjay, sings ‘Ajeeb Dastaan Hai Yeh’, which was reduced by 11 seconds. Other scenes, such as one featuring the dialogue ‘Aate rahenge ab toh,’ were completely cut, while a Holi sequence was shortened by 40 seconds.

In total, the filmmakers removed 14 minutes and 28 seconds from the film. Despite these cuts, they added 7 seconds of reaction shots to maintain continuity. The final runtime of Sikandar is now 135 minutes and 47 seconds, a significant reduction that aims to keep audiences engaged throughout the film.

Anticipation for Release

With the final edits approved, Sikandar is poised for its theatrical release on March 30. The film has generated considerable buzz, particularly due to Salman Khan’s star power and the anticipation surrounding its storyline. As the release date approaches, fans are eager to see how the changes will impact the film’s reception and overall narrative flow.
