Shri Nitin Gadkari chairs review meeting of Regional Officers of MoRTH, NHAI & NHIDCL

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Shri Nitin Gadkari chaired a review meeting of regional officials of MoRTH, NHAI and NHIDCL in New Delhi today. Minister of State Gen(Dr) VK Singh(Retd.) was also present on the occasion.

The meeting will be attended by Secretary Shri Anurag Jain, NHAI President Shri Santosh Kumar Yadav, NHIDCL MD Shri Mahmood Ahmed, as well as senior officials and ROs of MoRTH, NHAI and NHIDCL from across the country.

Shri Gadkari dI have discussed at length the potential of โ€œBuild-Operate-Transferโ€ (BOT) models, which can maximize financial productivity and allow the department to take on more projects. The Minister underlined the importance of regularly monitoring the quality and accelerating the execution of ongoing projects.

Address the gathering Shri Gadkari said it is about embracing innovation to boost our economy, reduce logistics costs, boost job creation and elevate public mobility services to new heights.

Shri Gadkari said that in our pursuit of a โ€œself-reliant Indiaโ€ and the goal of a $5 trillion economy, one crucial aspect emerges โ€“ the need to reduce logistics costs. To achieve this goal, the construction of excellent expressways has become a top priority, he added.

The Union Minister emphasized cooperation, coordination and communication between all stakeholders. He stated that management control together with financial audit is essential to get the best results.

In the day’s session, various topics such as road safety, pipeline of projects through different modes (BOT, HAM, EPC), development of roads in hilly regions, quality of roads including development of sustainable roads, operation and road maintenance.
