Senior Officials to Boost Rural Development in Karnataka
In an effort to enhance the execution of key rural development programmes, a delegation from the Ministry of Rural Development is set to visit Karnataka from July 5 to 11, 2026. Comprising senior officials including Deputy Director General Shri Altah Hussain Haji, Under Secretary Shri Anil Kumar K.C, and Assistant Director Shri Baldev Verma, the team’s objective is to provide crucial support to the Karnataka government in implementing various initiatives aimed at uplifting rural communities.
Review Meetings in Bengaluru
While in Karnataka, the officials plan to conduct review meetings with state government representatives in Bengaluru. These discussions will focus on assessing the progress of significant rural development schemes and exploring strategies to enhance programme delivery and effectiveness. This collaborative approach aims to ensure that the benefits of these initiatives reach those who need them the most.
Field Visits to Key Districts
The team is also slated to visit the Belgavi and Davanagere districts, where they will review the rollout of the VB-GRAMG programme. Their field visits are designed to support district administrations, identify challenges in implementation, and assist in resolving any issues to facilitate a smooth and successful programme launch.
Comprehensive Review of Flagship Programmes
In addition to VB-GRAMG, the officials will examine the execution of other vital programmes such as the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G), the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM), the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS), and the National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP). This comprehensive assessment aims to ensure that all programmes are being implemented effectively and are meeting the needs of rural populations.
Engagement with Local Stakeholders
The visit will include valuable interactions with district officials, representatives from Panchayati Raj Institutions, Self-Help Groups (SHGs), job card holders from MGNREGS, and beneficiaries of various rural development schemes. These conversations are intended to gather first-hand insights about programme implementation, understand the challenges at the ground level, document successful practices, and explore further enhancements in service delivery.
Commitment to Inclusive Development
The Ministry of Rural Development remains dedicated to promoting transparent, accountable, and effective execution of its flagship programmes. Through continuous monitoring, close collaboration with state governments, and consistent field engagements, these initiatives aim to bolster cooperative federalism and advance inclusive and sustainable rural development throughout India.
