Filmmaker A.R. Murugadoss has revealed the intense challenges faced during the production of his upcoming film Sikandar, starring Bollywood icon Salman Khan. The project has been marred by serious security threats against Khan, prompting heightened safety measures that complicated the filming process. Despite these obstacles, the team has managed to maintain a positive atmosphere on set.
Heightened Security Measures Impact Filming
During a recent interview, Murugadoss discussed the extensive security protocols that were implemented due to threats against Salman Khan. The scale of Sikandar is massive, with scenes often featuring crowds of 10,000 to 20,000 people. Managing such large groups required meticulous coordination and significant security presence. Murugadoss noted, “Our schedule was demanding, and the looming threat made it even more hectic.”
In light of the threats, security checks for additional cast members became a time-consuming process. “Post that, security was tightened, and checking all extra artistes on set took 2-3 hours daily,” he explained. This rigorous protocol often delayed shooting schedules, pushing filming into the early hours of the morning. Despite these disruptions to their biological cycles, the crew adapted, turning the challenges into a routine. Murugadoss emphasized that the set maintained a very positive energy throughout the ordeal.
Threats Against Salman Khan Escalate
Salman Khan has been under constant threat, leading to increased security measures around him. On November 5, 2024, the Mumbai Police received a threatening message from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. The message demanded that Khan either apologize at their community temple or pay Rs. 5 crore for his safety. The threat warned that failure to comply would result in his assassination.
The situation escalated further in April 2024 when two assailants opened fire outside Khan’s residence in Bandra West. Authorities are actively investigating these threats to ensure the actor’s safety, underscoring the seriousness of the situation. The heightened security measures have become a necessary part of the filming process for Sikandar.
