Samsung Launches One UI 8 Beta Update for Galaxy S25

Samsung has officially launched the beta version of its One UI 8, based on Android 16, for the flagship Galaxy S25 series. This update is currently accessible in select countries, including South Korea, Germany, the UK, and the US. The One UI 8 beta introduces a range of new features focused on enhancing productivity, security, and accessibility, allowing beta testers and developers to explore the firmware ahead of its public release.

One UI 8 Beta Availability and Eligible Models

Samsung has provided details about the One UI 8 beta program through a recent newsroom announcement. The beta is available for all three models in the Galaxy S25 lineup: the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, and Galaxy S25 Ultra. Users in Germany, the US, the UK, and South Korea can join the beta program by signing up via the Samsung Members app. Samsung notes that the features included in the update may differ based on the user’s country or region.

Additionally, the One UI 8 update will be pre-installed on Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Z foldable devices, which are anticipated to be unveiled later this summer. This rollout signifies Samsung’s commitment to providing its users with the latest software enhancements and features.

One UI 8 Beta Features

The One UI 8 Beta introduces significant improvements centered around artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance user experience. Samsung has focused on three main areas: multimodal functionality, optimization for various device form factors, and personalized pre-suggestions.

The AI capabilities allow for real-time recognition of on-screen content, facilitating more natural interactions. The user experience (UX) has been tailored to accommodate the different form factors of Galaxy devices, aiming to boost productivity and efficiency in daily tasks. Features like the Now Bar and Now Brief will assist users in managing their tasks, providing personalized greetings and suggestions.

Security is also a priority, with the AI experience being safeguarded by Samsung Knox Vault. Users of the Galaxy S25 series can easily access camera controls by swiping up or down in the preview area. The Secure Folder feature allows users to hide apps and silence notifications when locked. In Samsung DeX, users can select optimized display resolutions up to WQHD and rotate their screens up to 270 degrees. The split-screen view has been enhanced, enabling one app to be pinned at the edge of the screen for easier multitasking.

Enhanced Accessibility and Productivity Tools

One UI 8 Beta also brings notable improvements to the Reminder app, which now includes preset templates and auto-complete suggestions. Users can effortlessly share files, such as to-do lists, with a single tap, and can even add notifications using voice commands.

For accessibility, Samsung has made it easier for users to connect Bluetooth hearing aid devices directly through the Accessibility settings. The on-screen keyboard can be adjusted for larger keys, and users can modify zoom settings with on-screen buttons. Furthermore, the update introduces a feature that allows Galaxy users to challenge each other with running distance competitions and set reminders for tracking food intake within the Samsung Health app.

These enhancements reflect Samsung’s ongoing efforts to improve user experience and accessibility across its devices, ensuring that all users can benefit from the latest technological advancements.
