Samsung Bespoke Smart Refrigerators Receive Update

Samsung has announced exciting new features for its Bespoke Smart Refrigerators, enhancing user experience with advanced technology. The updates, revealed on Wednesday, include a Voice ID function that recognizes users by their voice, allowing for personalized settings. Additionally, a new method to activate the Bixby assistant has been introduced. These features will be rolled out through a free over-the-air software update for refrigerators equipped with the AI Family Hub and 9-inch AI Home screens, which were launched in 2025. Samsung plans to extend these capabilities to more Bespoke AI refrigerators later this year.
Voice ID Enhancements
Samsung’s new Voice ID feature is designed to personalize the user experience by recognizing individual voices. This multi-voice recognition function is powered by the Bixby AI assistant. Users can register their voices either directly on the refrigerator or through their Galaxy smartphones. Once a voice is recognized, the refrigerator can switch to the corresponding Samsung account, displaying personalized content such as calendar events or photos from the Gallery app based on voice commands.
Moreover, users can locate their smartphones by triggering an alert tone, even if the device is in silent mode. The Voice ID feature also synchronizes the refrigerator’s display settings with the user’s preferences on their smartphone. However, there are some limitations. Users must have a registered Samsung account on the appliance, and Voice ID can only be set up on the Samsung Galaxy S24 series and newer models. Additionally, the feature supports only specific languages recognized by Bixby.
Calendar and Gallery Integration
To utilize the calendar feature, users must have their events saved on Google or Microsoft calendars, and these accounts need to be synced with the smart appliance via the AI Family Hub. Similarly, the Gallery feature will only display images stored in OneDrive cloud storage through the Samsung Gallery app on a compatible Samsung smartphone. This integration allows for a seamless connection between the refrigerator and the user’s digital life, making it easier to access important information and memories.
New Activation Method for Bixby
In addition to Voice ID, Samsung has introduced a new way to activate the Bixby assistant. Previously, users could either use voice commands or tap the Bixby icon on the display when the screen was on. Now, users can simply double-tap the screen while it is turned off to activate Bixby directly. This added convenience enhances the overall user experience, making it easier to access the smart assistant without needing to wake the screen.
Future Expansion Plans
Samsung has indicated that these new features will also be available for Bespoke AI refrigerators equipped with AI Home screens in the second quarter of this year. The AI Home refers to the 7-inch or 9-inch LCD screens on certain Bespoke Refrigerators that do not support the AI Family Hub. This expansion reflects Samsung’s commitment to enhancing its product offerings and ensuring that more users can benefit from the latest technological advancements in smart home appliances.
