Rashtriya Ayurveda Vidyapeeth Conducts Tree Plantation Drive for World Environment Day

As part of the World Environment Day 2025 celebrations, Rashtriya Ayurveda Vidyapeeth (RAV) hosted a Tree Plantation Drive in New Delhi, focusing on the theme โEnding Plastic Pollution.โ This initiative, organized under the Ministry of Ayush, aimed to emphasize the connection between Ayurveda and environmental preservation while promoting sustainable living practices. The event featured the planting of indigenous and medicinal plants, reinforcing the philosophy of living in harmony with nature.
Inauguration of the Event
The Tree Plantation Drive was inaugurated by Shri Prataprao Jadhav, the Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for the Ministry of Ayush and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. He was accompanied by notable figures, including Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary of the Ministry of Ayush and a Padma Shri Awardee, and Vaidya Vandana Siroha, Director of Rashtriya Ayurveda Vidyapeeth. During the inauguration, Jadhav emphasized the importance of integrating Ayurvedic principles with environmental conservation. He stated, โAyurveda is inherently eco-conscious. On World Environment Day, we reaffirm our commitment to sustainable living by planting trees and reducing our plastic footprint.โ
Focus on Indigenous Plants and Awareness
The plantation included a diverse range of indigenous and medicinal plants, reflecting the Ayurvedic belief in living harmoniously with nature. This event also served as a platform to raise awareness about the detrimental effects of plastic pollution. Participants were encouraged to explore alternatives that align with traditional Indian knowledge systems. Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha highlighted the Ministryโs proactive approach to fostering a sustainable future through Ayurveda, while Vaidya Devinder Triguna spoke about the deep connection between ecological well-being and holistic health.

In addition to tree planting, the event featured the distribution of cloth bags to all attendees. This gesture symbolized a commitment to reducing plastic consumption and promoting eco-friendly alternatives in daily life. The initiative aimed to inspire participants to adopt sustainable habits and move away from single-use plastics. Vaidya Vandana Siroha reiterated RAVโs dedication to environmental responsibility and educational outreach, emphasizing the importance of such initiatives in fostering a culture of sustainability.
