Raksha Mantri Highlights India’s Use of Hard Power in Response to Failed Negotiations

โOperation Sindoor,โ along with the 2016 Surgical Strike and the 2019 Balakot Air Strike, exemplifies India’s strategic patience and its readiness to respond decisively when dialogue fails, asserted Defense Minister Rajnath Singh during the Hyderabad Liberation Day event on September 17, 2025. Speaking in Hyderabad, he emphasized that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi‘s leadership, India is committed to peace but is equally prepared to take strong action against those who threaten its security.
India’s Stance on Terrorism
During his address, Rajnath Singh highlighted the stark contrast between the actions of terrorists and the Indian Armed Forces. He noted that while terrorists targeted innocent civilians in Pahalgam, the Indian military executed Operation Sindoor to eliminate terrorist threats and their hideouts in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Singh praised the bravery and commitment of the Armed Forces, stating that the operation remains on standby and will be fully resumed if further terrorist activities arise from across the border. He firmly rejected any third-party intervention regarding the ceasefire during Operation Sindoor, asserting that India’s internal matters are not open to external influence.
Honoring Historical Figures
Rajnath Singh also paid tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, referring to him as the “Iron Man” of India for his role in uniting the nation. He noted that both Hyderabad Liberation Day and Prime Minister Modi’s birthday fall on the same date, September 17. Singh drew parallels between Patel’s efforts to strengthen India and Modi’s current initiatives aimed at enhancing the country’s cultural, social, spiritual, and economic fabric. He expressed admiration for Patel’s decisive actions during Operation Polo, which he described as a pivotal moment that thwarted the Razakars’ conspiracy and integrated Hyderabad into India.
India’s Economic Transformation
The Defense Minister expressed confidence in India’s trajectory towards becoming the world’s third-largest economy, attributing this transformation to Prime Minister Modi’s leadership. “Today, India does not take dictation from anyone; it writes its own script,” he declared, emphasizing the nation’s growing autonomy on the global stage. Singh’s remarks reflect a broader narrative of national pride and self-reliance, reinforcing the idea that India is capable of shaping its destiny without external pressures.
Commemorating the Past
In addition to his speeches, Rajnath Singh visited a photo exhibition commemorating Hyderabad Liberation Day, organized by the Central Bureau of Communication. The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Union Minister of Culture and Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Minister for Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy, and Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar. Singh’s participation in the exhibition underscores the importance of remembering historical events that have shaped India’s unity and resilience against external threats. He concluded by reiterating that just as the Razakars’ conspiracy failed in 1948, so too has Pakistan-sponsored terrorism been met with resolute responses from India, showcasing the nation’s strength in diversity and unity.
