PVR Inox Pictures Secures Distribution Rights for ‘Sitaare Zameen’
After a hiatus of over two and a half years, Aamir Khan is set to return to the big screen with his upcoming film, Sitaare Zameen Par. The film has generated considerable buzz regarding its release date and trailer launch. Recent reports confirm that PVR Inox Pictures will handle the film’s distribution, marking a significant partnership for the project.
Aamir Khan’s Longstanding Relationship with PVR Inox
Aamir Khan’s collaboration with PVR Inox Pictures is rooted in a long-standing relationship. The exhibition arm of PVR Inox celebrated Khan’s 60th birthday on March 14 by hosting a film festival that featured some of his most acclaimed works. This event took place at PVR Juhu in Mumbai, where Khan engaged in a notable conversation with renowned lyricist Javed Akhtar. The connection between Khan and PVR is further emphasized by the fact that *Sitaare Zameen Par* serves as a spiritual sequel to his earlier film, *Taare Zameen Par* (2007). The original film was also associated with PVR, being backed by PVR Pictures and co-produced by Sanjeev Kumar Bijli and Ajay Bijli alongside Aamir Khan Productions. This partnership highlights a full-circle moment in Khan’s career.
Trailer Launch and Screening Plans
According to sources, Aamir Khan is expected to unveil the trailer for *Sitaare Zameen Par* digitally on April 30. Following this, audiences can look forward to seeing the trailer in theaters starting May 1. PVR Inox plans to showcase the trailer across all their cinemas, coinciding with the release of new films such as *Raid 2*, *Thunderbolts*, and *The Bhootnii*. The trailer, which has a runtime of 3 minutes and 29 seconds, has already received a U/A certification from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), indicating its suitability for a wider audience.
Film Details and Anticipated Release
Directed by R S Prasanna, known for his work on *Shubh Mangal Saavdhan* (2017), *Sitaare Zameen Par* also features actress Genelia Deshmukh in a significant role. The film is slated for a theatrical release on June 20, 2023.
