Puja Entertainment and Netflix Resolve Dispute

After a challenging year, Vashu and Jackky Bhagnani’s Puja Entertainment are celebrating a significant turnaround. Following the release of their romantic comedy, Mere Husband Ki Biwi, which garnered a positive audience response, the production house has also settled a long-standing dispute with Netflix. The resolution comes after a year of legal battles over unpaid dues, marking a fresh start for both parties.
Settlement Details and Financial Terms
Sources have revealed that Netflix has agreed to pay over Rs. 20 crores to Puja Entertainment to resolve the dispute. The exact settlement amount remains confidential, known only to the executives involved. This agreement signifies a mutual decision to move forward positively, with both Netflix and the Bhagnanis expressing hopes for a fruitful partnership in the future.
The conflict began in September 2024 when the Bhagnanis filed a lawsuit against Netflix, alleging that the streaming giant owed them nearly Rs. 47.37 crores for the OTT rights of three films: Mission Raniganj, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, and Hero No 1. The Bhagnanis approached the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Mumbai Police, claiming that Netflix had failed to make the necessary payments.
During the investigation, Senior Inspector Ravindra Avhad noted that Netflix was uncooperative, having ignored multiple summonses. The Bhagnanis expressed frustration over the lack of response from Netflix, particularly from senior executives who were expected to address the matter directly.
Netflix’s Response to Allegations
In response to the allegations made by Puja Entertainment, Netflix denied any wrongdoing. The streaming service claimed that the accusations were unfounded and asserted that it was, in fact, Puja Entertainment that owed them money. Netflix emphasized its commitment to maintaining strong relationships with the Indian creative community and stated that they were working with the authorities to resolve the dispute.
Despite the initial tensions, the recent settlement indicates a willingness from both sides to put the past behind them. With the legal issues now resolved, both Netflix and Puja Entertainment can focus on future collaborations, which could lead to exciting new projects for audiences.
A Bright Future for Puja Entertainment
With the settlement concluded, Vashu and Jackky Bhagnani are poised to embark on a new chapter for Puja Entertainment. The resolution of the dispute with Netflix allows the production house to redirect its energy towards upcoming projects and enhance its offerings in the entertainment industry.
The success of Mere Husband Ki Biwi and the renewed partnership with Netflix signal a promising trajectory for the Bhagnanis. As they prepare for future ventures, the focus will be on delivering quality content that resonates with audiences both in India and globally. This fresh start could pave the way for innovative collaborations and a strengthened presence in the competitive entertainment landscape.
