Probationers of Indian Defence Estates Service and Military Engineer Services
The probationers of the Indian Defence Estates Service, Military Engineer Services, and Central Water Engineering Service had a significant meeting with President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan on July 23, 2025. Addressing the Military Engineer Services officers, President Murmu underscored their vital role as emerging leaders in military construction. She emphasized that their responsibilities extend beyond mere construction; they must build with a sense of accountability. The President called for a focus on renewable energy sources to foster sustainable development and reduce the carbon footprint associated with defense infrastructure. She expressed satisfaction with the MES’s alignment with the national vision of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat,’ noting their active promotion of indigenous materials and technologies under the ‘Make in India’ initiative. This approach not only supports local industries but also enhances the resilience of defense infrastructure.

In her remarks to the Central Water Engineering Service officers, President Murmu stressed the importance of sustainable water resource development and efficient management practices. She pointed out that these efforts are crucial for ensuring water security and fostering growth, especially in light of changing climatic conditions. The President highlighted that by providing clean water and promoting conservation efforts, India can significantly improve public health, enhance agricultural productivity, and ensure the sustainable use of natural resources.
